Manchester United Eye £70 Million Move for Crystal Palace Star Adam Wharton

Published

on

Manchester United have made Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton their top transfer target for the January window, but the 21-year-old could cost the club around £70 million, according to multiple reports.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

United are eager to strengthen their midfield as manager Rúben Amorim continues to reshape the squad. Wharton, who joined Palace from Blackburn Rovers earlier this year, has quickly become one of the Premier League’s most promising young midfielders. His performances have drawn attention from top clubs across Europe, but Crystal Palace are expected to demand a high fee to part ways with their star player.

Sources close to the club say Palace are under no financial pressure to sell and are determined to keep Wharton at least until the end of the season. The England youth international signed a long-term contract running until 2029, giving the South London side strong leverage in any negotiations.

Wharton moved to Selhurst Park in February 2024 for an initial fee of around £22 million. Since then, he has impressed under manager Oliver Glasner, showcasing composure on the ball, precise passing, and strong defensive awareness. His maturity in midfield has made him one of the standout performers for Palace this season.

Manchester United, who have struggled for consistency in midfield, see Wharton as a long-term solution. Amorim is believed to view the young Englishman as a key part of his rebuilding project, following mixed performances from current midfielders Casemiro, Sofyan Amrabat, and Mason Mount.

Despite United’s strong interest, Palace chairman Steve Parish has made it clear that the club does not intend to sell their top talent midseason. “If Manchester United want Adam Wharton, that’s not surprising,” Parish told reporters earlier this week. “But he has a long contract, and we’re under no pressure to sell.”

Transfer insiders suggest Palace would only consider a sale if United offered close to £70 million — more than triple the fee Palace paid just months ago. Some analysts believe United could test Palace’s stance with an early bid in January, but a deal is seen as more likely next summer.

Football analyst Fabrizio Romano reported that United’s interest in Wharton is “genuine and advanced,” but added that Palace have “no intention” of negotiating in the winter window. Romano said United’s scouting team has been following Wharton closely since his move from Blackburn and sees him as one of England’s brightest young prospects.

Wharton’s development has been rapid. After breaking through at Blackburn, he quickly adapted to the Premier League and became central to Palace’s plans. His ability to control tempo and link play between defense and attack has drawn comparisons to England internationals Declan Rice and Michael Carrick.

For United, signing Wharton would mark a major step in their long-term rebuild under Amorim. However, any move in January will depend on budget flexibility and player availability. The club is also reportedly considering other midfield options, including Brighton’s Carlos Baleba and Benfica’s João Neves.

If Palace refuse to negotiate in January, United may revisit the pursuit next summer, when player movement and budgets are typically more fluid. For now, Wharton remains focused on his current club’s campaign, helping Palace push toward the top half of the Premier League table.

Whether Manchester United can convince Crystal Palace to part with their rising star remains uncertain. What is clear is that Wharton has emerged as one of England’s most sought-after young midfielders — and his next move could become one of the biggest stories of the 2025 transfer market.

Tinubu Will Still Win 2027 Despite Poor Performance – APC Chieftain Yusuf Claims.

Published

on

An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, Senator Abubakar Yusuf, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will secure victory in the 2027 presidential election, despite what he described as the current government’s underwhelming performance.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, the former federal lawmaker argued that Tinubu’s re-election is likely because the opposition lacks unity and cannot mount a strong challenge.

He said he does not expect opposition politicians to come together in a way that could threaten the president’s chances.

According to him, “APC will win in 2027, not because President Tinubu has done well, but because there is no opposition. There is no challenge in the opposition. Individually, they are very credible, but as a team, I don’t see them working together. Tinubu will more likely win in the 2027 election.”

Yusuf added that the ruling party is not worried about the opposition due to its fragmented nature.

However, he cautioned President Tinubu against relying heavily on APC governors for electoral support, warning that many of them may not have strong grassroots popularity.

He also warned that internal disagreements within the party, especially over candidate selection, could trigger serious conflicts and weaken the APC if not properly handled.

“APC is not jittery because we don’t have a challenge. What we should worry about is an intra-party crisis. There may be implosions if care is not taken. If they insist on an automatic ticket, they will lose many members to other parties. There will be implosions if they refuse to allow free and fair elections,” he said.

Yusuf further advised the president not to overestimate the influence of some governors, adding that several of them are not widely popular among voters.

SSANU Threatens Indefinite Strike Over FG’s 30% Salary Increment Plan.

Published

on

The Federal Government has approved a 30 per cent salary increase for non-academic staff in federal universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education, in a move aimed at addressing long-standing welfare concerns in the education sector.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The decision is intended to improve the conditions of service for administrative and technical workers in higher institutions. It comes after years of agitation by unions over pay disparities, unpaid entitlements, and following a recent 40 per cent salary adjustment granted to academic staff.

The approval was contained in a letter dated March 30, 2026, signed by the Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa. It stated that the increase would be implemented through a consolidated allowance structure for non-teaching staff.

Relevant education agencies were directed to begin implementation based on guidelines attached to the memo.

However, the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) has rejected the development, insisting that negotiations with the government are still ongoing and no final agreement has been reached.

Following a National Executive Council meeting in Abuja, the union dismissed reports suggesting a concluded deal, saying discussions were still in progress.

SSANU also expressed concern over a circulating letter on the salary adjustment, arguing that it does not reflect the outcome of negotiations so far.

The union maintained it would not accept any arrangement that does not follow due process and agreed terms, stressing the need for fairness in the negotiation process.

It also reiterated its earlier warning, giving the Federal Government until April 30, 2026, to conclude talks or risk an indefinite strike in collaboration with NASU.

Members were advised to remain alert and await further directives from the union leadership.
