FG Identifies 31 States At Risk Of Heavy Flooding In 2024: See Full List....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Federal Government has released a comprehensive list of 31 states across Nigeria that are predicted to experience heavy flooding in 2024. According to the Minister of Water Resources, Prof Joseph Utsev, a total of 148 Local Government Areas spanning these states are identified as high-risk flood zones.

Presenting the 2024 Annual Flood Outlook prepared by the Nigeria Hydrological Services Agency, Utsev highlighted the states susceptible to severe flooding. These states include Adamawa, Akwa-Ibom, Anambra, Bauchi, Bayelsa, Benue, Borno, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Edo, Imo, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Kogi, Kwara, Lagos, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Ondo, Osun, Oyo, Plateau, Rivers, Sokoto, Taraba, and Yobe.

The projected timeframe for these floods spans from April to November 2024. Moreover, a portion of the 249 Local Government Areas in the remaining 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is classified as moderate flood risk areas, though specific regions were not enumerated by the Minister.
