Breaking: NLC Mobilizes Nationwide Action After DSS Arrests Labour Leader Joe Ajaero!....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has issued new directives following an emergency meeting in response to the arrest of its national president, Joe Ajaero, by the Department of State Services (DSS) on Monday.

Naija News reports that Ajaero was detained at Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja, while preparing to board a flight to the UK for an official assignment.

In reaction, the NLC swiftly convened an emergency session of its National Administrative Council (NAC) to discuss the arrest and devise a strategy.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the NLC condemned the arrest and called for the immediate and unconditional release of Ajaero. The union described the arrest as an attack on all Nigerian workers.

In a communiqué signed by its deputy president, Adeyanju Adewale, the NLC placed all its affiliates, state councils, and Nigerians on high alert, warning that the arrest could be a ploy to delay the implementation of the new minimum wage.

The union also scheduled an emergency meeting of its National Executive Council (NEC) for 10th September to discuss the situation and decide on further action.

The NLC warned the government against silencing dissent and vowed to continue defending the rights of workers and the freedom of Nigerians.
