NLC Leaders’ Interrogation Postponed as Ajaero and Ugboaja Skip Police Summons
NLC Leaders’ Interrogation Postponed as Ajaero and Ugboaja Skip Police Summons....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The much-anticipated second interrogation of Joe Ajaero, President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), and Emmanuel Ugboaja, NLC Secretary, did not occur on Thursday, as both leaders failed to appear at the police headquarters in Abuja. Despite their scheduled presence at the Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID), neither Ajaero nor Ugboaja showed up for questioning.
According to a source familiar with the situation, the NLC leaders notified investigators ahead of time that they would not be available. The source stated, “They did not show up. I am aware they have written those handling their case that they wouldn’t be coming today. They asked them to expect them on September 25.”
Legal counsel for the NLC, Femi Falana (SAN), who had accompanied Ajaero to his initial police appearance on August 29, hinted earlier that a postponement was likely. Falana later confirmed the postponement, explaining, “We wrote for another date as Comrade Joe Ajaero has an engagement outside Abuja today.”
The police have summoned Ajaero to investigate allegations ranging from terrorism financing to cybercrime, subversion, criminal conspiracy, and treasonable felony. These charges came after a police raid on the NLC national secretariat in Abuja. Ajaero is also being questioned over alleged links to British national Andrew Wynne, who has been accused of funding the recent #EndBadGovernance or #Hunger protests, which the authorities claim aimed to destabilize President Bola Tinubu’s government.
Following Ajaero’s initial appearance on August 29, the police, through a letter signed by Commissioner of Police Ibitoye Alajide on behalf of the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Force Intelligence Department, summoned both Ajaero and Ugboaja for another round of questioning on Thursday, September 5. The police wanted them to address accusations of criminal intimidation, actions likely to disrupt public peace, and malicious property damage.
However, despite the police’s expectations, the NLC leaders did not comply with the summons. Force spokesperson Muyiwa Adejobi promised to provide further information on the non-appearance of the labour leaders but had not done so at the time of this report.

ADC Speaks On Not Fielding Candidates For 2027 Elections.

In a statement issued on Saturday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC described the claims as false, misleading, and intended to cause unnecessary confusion.
The party reaffirmed its commitment to its mission of unseating the All Progressives Congress (APC) through the ballot, stressing that it remains focused on delivering change.
Abdullahi assured that the ADC would field strong and qualified candidates in 2027, adding that the party is not distracted by rumours or political propaganda.
According to the statement, the ADC emphasized that it remains committed to rescuing Nigeria from what it described as the failures of the APC-led government and preventing the emergence of a one-party system.
The party also dismissed suggestions that it faces any legal barrier to participating in the elections, insisting it is fully compliant with the Constitution and the Electoral Act.
It further stated that preparations are already underway nationwide to mobilize Nigerians frustrated with insecurity, economic hardship, and lack of opportunities.
Reaffirming its position, the ADC described itself as a leading opposition force and urged supporters to ignore speculation about its electoral plans, stressing that its focus remains on building a winning structure for 2027
