“INEC Counts Votes, Not Prayers”: Reverend Omobude Urges Edo People to Participate in Upcoming Election....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Reverend Felix Omobude, a former national president of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), has called on the citizens of Edo State, particularly Christians, to actively participate in the upcoming governorship election on September 21. He emphasized that while prayers are important, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) tallies votes, not prayer points.
Addressing the electorate, Reverend Omobude urged the people of Edo to use their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) to ensure their voices are heard through the democratic process. He encouraged voters to make informed decisions and elect credible leaders, stressing that the power to choose the next governor lies in their hands.
Voting for Credibility and Integrity
Omobude highlighted the importance of selecting a credible candidate, reminding voters that democracy grants them the opportunity to determine their future leaders. He encouraged the people of Edo to show political enlightenment and demonstrate their knowledge by making the right choice at the ballot box.
“Edo State must prove to the world that we are politically knowledgeable and won’t bow to political intimidation from any godfathers,” he stated.
Scrutinizing Track Records
In addition to casting their votes, Omobude advised voters to carefully examine the track records of all candidates. He urged them to vote based on merit, credibility, and the potential to move Edo State forward. While he called for peaceful elections, he reiterated that prayers alone will not suffice; active participation is essential to achieving good governance.
A Call to Action
In his broadcast, Omobude said, “Democracy offers us the opportunity to choose who governs us. That opportunity is at our doorstep. While praying for good governance is commendable, INEC counts votes, not prayers. Ensure you’re registered and ready to vote.”
Reverend Omobude concluded by encouraging voters to uphold their values and make their votes count, reminding them that they hold the key to Edo State’s future.
