Former PDP Spokesman Demands Damagun’s Resignation Amidst Party Turmoil: Calls For Reform And North-Central Leadership....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Kola Ologbondiyan, the former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has called for the resignation of the party’s acting National Chairman, Umar Damagun, to address the ongoing internal conflicts within the PDP.

In an interview with Saturday PUNCH, Ologbondiyan emphasized that Damagun’s stepping down is crucial for implementing necessary reforms and restoring stability within the party.

This call echoes previous demands from various party members, including 60 PDP House of Representatives members, who have criticized Damagun for his perceived closeness to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and have urged his resignation.

Ologbondiyan attributed the party’s current issues to Damagun’s leadership, arguing that his departure is essential for the PDP to function effectively as an opposition party. He proposed that Damagun should return to his former position as Deputy National Chairman (North).

As the former spokesperson for the Atiku/Okowa Presidential Campaign Organization during the 2023 election, Ologbondiyan asserted that genuine reconciliation within the party could only be achieved by appointing a new national chairman from the North-Central region, which has been without a chairmanship since the suspension of Iyorchia Ayu.

Ologbondiyan stated, “For the PDP to fulfill its objectives, justice must be served. Damagun has assumed the role of a substantive chairman, which should have been filled by someone from the North-Central. If he had stepped back and allowed the North-Central to produce a substantive chairman, many of the party’s major issues might have been resolved.
