Shocking Suspension: PDP Expels Senator Dino Melaye Over Alleged Misconduct....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State has made headlines with the suspension of its former governorship candidate, Senator Dino Melaye, due to alleged anti-party activities. This decisive action was taken by the party’s executive committee in Ayetoro Gbede, Ward 1, and was communicated in a memo dated September 12, 2024.
The memo revealed that the Ward Party Executive Committee convened on September 12 to evaluate the findings of a disciplinary committee tasked with investigating allegations against Senator Melaye. According to the memo, the committee was set up to address concerns regarding Melaye’s conduct, which reportedly undermined party unity and discipline.
Senator Melaye was formally invited to present his case before the disciplinary committee on August 20, 2024. However, he did not attend the meeting, which the party interpreted as a blatant disregard for its authority. The memo stated, “His failure to appear before the Disciplinary Committee constitutes a gross disrespect to the party and its leadership.”

The PDP cited several reasons for Melaye’s suspension. They claimed that his actions had violated the principles of party discipline as outlined in the PDP Constitution. The party stated that his conduct had brought embarrassment and disrepute to the PDP, making his continued membership untenable. The executive committee concluded, “Therefore, the Ward Party Exco hereby suspends Senator Dino Melaye from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), effective immediately.”
This suspension aligns with Article 59(1) of the PDP Constitution, which grants the Ward Party Executive Committee the authority to take disciplinary actions against members who breach party rules.
The disciplinary committee had previously issued multiple summons to Melaye, urging him to respond to the allegations. Despite the reminders and extensions granted for his appearance, Melaye did not comply. The committee’s letter, dated September 9, 2024, highlighted the committee’s frustration, noting that Melaye’s refusal to attend was a significant factor in their recommendation for his suspension.
A letter sent to Melaye on August 25, 2024, elaborated on the specific accusations, including alleged mismanagement of party funds during the last governorship elections and making statements that could tarnish the party’s reputation.
In light of these developments, the PDP has called on all its members to recommit to the principles of party discipline and loyalty. The party emphasized the importance of unity in order to effectively serve the interests of the people and succeed in future elections.

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has adjusted its gantry price for Premium Motor Spirit (petrol), lowering it from ₦1,275 to ₦1,250 per litre, marking a two per cent reduction. This price shift is attributed to a decline in international crude oil prices, which serve as the refinery’s primary feedstock. An official from the refinery noted that such adjustments are expected in a deregulated market and emphasized that the company will continue to calibrate prices based on evolving market conditions. Despite this move, current retail prices at many filling stations across Nigeria remain above ₦1,350 per litre, with costs varying by location and marketer.Beyond pricing, the refinery has been credited as a key driver of Nigeria’s improving economic outlook. A political war of words has erupted between former APC National Chairman Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and former presidential candidate Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso. The friction began when Kwankwaso, speaking at his Kano residence, insisted that prominent politicians—including Ganduje—owe their political rise to his mentorship and cannot deny their past loyalty to him. Ganduje, currently performing the Hajj pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia, responded through his chief of staff, Muhammad Garba, by asserting that Kwankwaso was actually his own protégé.
