Reports from Naija News on Friday revealed that the wall of the female section of the hostel collapsed in the morning.
“The wall of one of the female hostels collapsed this morning (Friday). It was the bathroom wall which caved in when they were planning to take their bath.
“But thank God, people rushed down there to retrieve them from the rubble. They have been stabilized at the clinic, and they will get further medical treatments,” Daily Trust quoted a source as saying.
Naija News reports that corps members are currently at the orientation camp for a mandatory three-week period.
A representative from the NYSC confirmed the incident to journalists, stating that only a few corps members were involved and that they had received medical attention at the camp’s clinic.
He urged parents, guardians, and other concerned parties not to be alarmed by the incident, emphasizing that it did not have any significant adverse effects on the corps members.
There have been complaints about the substandard facilities at the NYSC camp in the region. However, there has been a lack of sufficient renovations.
