The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced an important update for married female prospective corps members assigned to states where their husbands do not reside. This decision aims to support the well-being of these women as they fulfill their service obligations.
In a recent post on X.com, the NYSC urged all married female prospective corps members (PCMs) from the 2024 Batch “B” Stream II to seek redeployment. They advised affected individuals to visit their respective NYSC Orientation Camps to request a change in their deployment.
Important Instructions for Redeployment
The NYSC emphasized that married female PCMs should report to their nearest NYSC Orientation Camp during the registration period. To facilitate the redeployment process, these individuals must bring copies of their marital documents and any other relevant evidence. Once the change is processed, it will be reflected on their dashboard, allowing them to reprint their deployment details.
Understanding the NYSC
The NYSC, established on May 22, 1973, by Decree No. 24, serves as a platform for graduates to engage in national development and promote unity among Nigeria’s youth. The program aims to foster common ties and strengthen national identity.
To be eligible for the NYSC, graduates must be below 30 years of age upon graduation. Those who exceed this age limit receive a Certificate of Exemption, which is equivalent to the NYSC Discharge Certificate. Upon completing their service year, corps members earn a certificate of satisfactory participation, recognizing their contributions to the nation.
