The certification process involved a thorough audit of the rail infrastructure by Engr. Abdulrahaman B. Yusuf, the Government Inspector of Railway from the Federal Ministry of Transportation.
Engr. Yusuf’s certification, governed by Sections 50 to 56 of the Nigerian Railway Act of 1955, stated, “I hereby certify the railway safe for commercial operation” following successful trial operations on the Blue Line (Marina – Mile 2) of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit.
Limited passenger operations on the Blue Line commenced on September 4, 2023, and have already served approximately 20,000 passengers.
In response to the certification, Engr. Abimbola Akinajo, Managing Director of LAMATA, emphasized the strict supervision regime implemented during the project’s construction. She also highlighted the commitment of the Lagos State government to ensuring proper maintenance of the infrastructure, emphasizing that rail systems are designed to last for generations, with an assurance that the infrastructure will endure for over 100 years.

Uba Sani To Construct Largest Bus Terminal In Nigeria.
Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has announced plans to construct what will be the largest inter-state bus terminal in Nigeria, in terms of size and infrastructure. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on Sunday, with the terminal set to occupy 20 hectares along the Eastern Bypass in Chikun Local Government Area.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The Ultra-Modern Inter-State Bus Terminal is designed as a dual facility capable of accommodating over 5,000 vehicles. It will feature intelligent traffic management systems, advanced surveillance, escalators, elevators, and full accessibility for the elderly and persons with disabilities. Refueling stations for petrol, diesel, and compressed natural gas (CNG) will also be integrated, alongside a three-star hotel to serve travelers, drivers, and visitors.
“This is more than concrete and steel; it is a fully integrated mobility ecosystem—safe, efficient, transparent, and future-ready,” Governor Sani said.
Highlighting the project’s economic impact, the Governor explained that the terminal will decongest the city center, enhance intra-city and inter-state connectivity, improve security surveillance, and create thousands of direct and indirect jobs for drivers, technicians, artisans, traders, and young entrepreneurs. He added that modern mobility infrastructure also strengthens security by addressing vulnerabilities that often fuel crime.
The project is part of a broader transformation of Kaduna State’s transport system. Since mid-2025, the state has deployed 100 free CNG buses, transporting over 1.4 million passengers and saving commuters nearly ₦1.5 billion. Governor Sani emphasized that this initiative has reduced household transport costs, lowered emissions, eased traffic congestion, and improved daily mobility.
Kaduna’s strategic position as a transport hub has historically been undermined by fragmented systems, leading to congestion, disorder, and insecurity. The new terminal aims to replace unsafe, scattered motor parks with a professionally managed, technology-enabled facility, strengthening regulatory oversight and restoring public confidence in transport.
The administration has already completed 200 modern bus stops across the state, while the Kakuri Modern Bus Terminal (Southern Transport Hub) is 90% complete, and the Sobawa Motor Park redevelopment is at 50%.
Looking ahead, Governor Sani announced plans to launch the Kaduna Light Rail Project by March 2026, featuring a 30 km Red Line from Rigachikun to Sabon Tasha and a 20 km Yellow Line from Millennium City to Rigasa. In addition, a 24 km Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) corridor from Kawo to Sabon Tasha will operate 120 buses across 30 modern stations, providing efficient, affordable, and reliable transport.
“These projects are part of an integrated, multimodal system designed to serve all residents—urban and rural, young and old, rich and poor,” the Governor said.
Kaduna State’s transport reforms have earned national recognition. At the National Urban Mobility Conference in Abuja on January 22, 2026, the state ranked second in Nigeria for sustainable urban mobility. Kaduna is also the first in Northern Nigeria—and second nationally after Lagos—to implement a comprehensive State Transport Policy, providing a long-term strategic framework.
Governor Sani concluded, “We are not just building terminals, buses, and rail lines; we are building confidence, restoring trust, and laying foundations for enduring prosperity.”

While formally receiving the governor back into the APC, Ganduje said, “I can categorically tell you that you will win in 2027 with a landslide because all those contesting for the same seat have agreed to let you go unopposed.”
He added, “For us, the leaders of the APC, this is a historic occasion we have been waiting for. I warmly welcome Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf back to his home.”
Ganduje recalled that, “We were in the APC together when it was formed, but due to political differences and redirection, you left for the NNPP. Now, we are grateful that you are back to our party and your home. You, as our brother and the Governor of Kano State, are a progressive politician, evident in your words, policies, and their implementation.”
He emphasized that, in line with APC principles, Governor Yusuf is now the party’s leader in Kano State.
Ganduje also praised President Bola Tinubu, describing him as a true Nigerian and politician who treats citizens fairly, regardless of religion or ethnicity, and reaffirmed that Governor Yusuf is poised for victory in 2027.
The Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau Jibrin, commended Yusuf for his bold decision to return to the APC, affirming that the move is permanent.

We Are Really Devastated – NNPP On Gov Yusuf’s Defection.
The Kano State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has expressed disappointment over Governor Abba Yusuf’s defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In an interview on Politics Today on Channels Television monitored by DAILY POST on Monday, the NNPP state spokesperson, Ibrahim Karaye, described the move as “devastating and a betrayal.”
Governor Yusuf officially rejoined the APC on Monday, following his resignation from the NNPP on Friday.
Commenting on the defection, Karaye said, “We are deeply hurt and feel betrayed by this development. However, the NNPP remains strong and continues to be a major political force in Kano. From the moment the governor began planning his exit, all key stakeholders were aware of his intentions.
“In politics, decisions are not one-sided. We waited until last Friday, when he formally resigned from the party. Given the reasons he cited for leaving—internal party crises—we expected him to join a more progressive and stable party.
“But, of course, no political party in Nigeria is without challenges. Even the APC, which he has now joined, faces its own crises and internal issues. That is the nature of politics,” Karaye added.
