We Are Really Devastated – NNPP On Gov Yusuf’s Defection.
The Kano State chapter of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has expressed disappointment over Governor Abba Yusuf’s defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In an interview on Politics Today on Channels Television monitored by DAILY POST on Monday, the NNPP state spokesperson, Ibrahim Karaye, described the move as “devastating and a betrayal.”
Governor Yusuf officially rejoined the APC on Monday, following his resignation from the NNPP on Friday.
Commenting on the defection, Karaye said, “We are deeply hurt and feel betrayed by this development. However, the NNPP remains strong and continues to be a major political force in Kano. From the moment the governor began planning his exit, all key stakeholders were aware of his intentions.
“In politics, decisions are not one-sided. We waited until last Friday, when he formally resigned from the party. Given the reasons he cited for leaving—internal party crises—we expected him to join a more progressive and stable party.
“But, of course, no political party in Nigeria is without challenges. Even the APC, which he has now joined, faces its own crises and internal issues. That is the nature of politics,” Karaye added.

SHOCKING REVELATION: Delta State Governor Admits His Monthly Salary Is Far Lower Than A Permanent Secretary’s!.
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State has disclosed that his monthly salary is significantly lower than that of the state’s permanent secretaries. The revelation was made on Thursday during the commissioning of 12 four-bedroom terraced duplexes built for permanent secretaries and the presentation of official vehicles to newly appointed officials in Asaba, the state capital.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to the governor, permanent secretaries earn a monthly salary of ₦900,000, while the Head of Service earns ₦1,000,000. In contrast, the governor’s official monthly salary stands at ₦503,000. Explaining the pay structure during an event captured in a video broadcast by ARISE TV on YouTube, Oborevwori noted that the government adjusted the salaries of permanent secretaries upward after they raised concerns that certain directors were earning comparable amounts.
Highlighting his administration’s ongoing commitment to civil servant welfare, the governor detailed several initiatives:
-
Mobility Support: Official vehicles were previously distributed to serving permanent secretaries, complemented by a fresh batch of 12 vehicles given to newly sworn-in appointees.
-
Financial Assistance: A total of 302 beneficiaries have received support through the Public Officers’ Vehicle Loan Scheme, while 119 individuals benefited from the Public Officers’ Housing Loan Scheme.
-
Agricultural Empowerment: Farm inputs have been extended to civil servants interested in agriculture to foster alternative revenue sources and bolster food security.
-
Capacity Building: Through partnerships with the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria, 450 senior management personnel received sponsorship for a comprehensive seven-weekend training program.
The governor also emphasized that the recent appointment of 12 permanent secretaries in May ensured equal representation across every local government area in the state. He maintained that selections were driven entirely by merit without external lobbying or recommendations.

MUSEUM WARS: Oshiomhole’s Panel Exposes Obaseki, Seeks Name Change And Seizure Of Controversial Art Project!.
Senator Adams Oshiomhole, former Governor of Edo State and Chairman of the Special Committee on the Museum of West Africa Art (MOWAA), has officially submitted the committee’s findings. The panel was constituted by Governor Monday Okpebholo to investigate the ownership status, establishment, and naming processes surrounding the museum project.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to the report, the previous administration under Godwin Obaseki committed approximately ₦3.8 billion of public funds to the project, modifying the museum’s name several times. The initiative originally stemmed from widespread public backing for the return of stolen Benin artifacts, which paved the way for establishing a Royal Museum on land designated by the Oba of Benin. However, the report notes that the former administration later demolished the Central Hospital site and transitioned the project’s identity into MOWAA.
Oshiomhole highlighted that despite receiving substantial international contributions—including four million euros from the German government and $1.5 million from Leventis—alongside state allocations, the frequent name alterations effectively shifted the project toward a private entity. Investigations by the panel concluded that certain operational claims made by management regarding land acquisition and archaeological excavations were unsupported.
Consequently, the committee put forward key recommendations:
-
Facility Retention: The existing structure should remain intact and be assigned an appropriate designation reflecting its true heritage.
-
Name Reversal: The institution should be officially renamed the Benin Royal Museum of Africa Art to properly align with global expectations for the returned artifacts.
-
Institutional Transfer: Management and oversight of the museum should be handed back to the Oba of Benin to ensure long-term preservation under the traditional institution.
Upon receiving the document, Governor Okpebholo commended the committee for its thorough investigation. He announced plans to establish a follow-up committee to collaborate with the Ministry of Justice and draft a formal white paper based on the panel’s recommendations. The presentation was attended by Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, Secretary to the State Government Umar Musa Ikhilor Esq., State Attorney General Prof. Roland Otaru, and other senior government officials.

NO EXECUTION: Federal Government Surprises Court By Stepping Back From Death Sentence Push For Kanu!.
The Federal Government has officially backed down from its push for the mandatory death penalty against the detained leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Alloy Ejimakor, the special counsel to the IPOB leader, announced the development, confirming that he received formal communication stating that the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is no longer pursuing its cross-appeal on the matter. According to Ejimakor, representations had earlier been made highlighting that capital punishment conflicts with international law.
In a social media update, the lawyer stated: “UPDATE: By virtue of a formal communication I received 2 days ago, I can confirm that the Nigerian government ‘does not intend to pursue their cross appeal on the question of the mandatory death penalty’ against Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Case closed.”
This legal pivot follows a previous push in November 2025, where prosecutors demanded a death sentence under the Terrorism Prevention Amendment Act. However, Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja had earlier dismissed that request, opting instead for a life sentence while citing modern global trends shifting away from capital punishment.
