The gathering reviewed the party’s performance in previous elections and discussed strategies to strengthen voter mobilisation, particularly among the youth.

The motion for the endorsement was moved by the Ayangburen of Ikorodu, Oba Kabiru Shotobi, and seconded by the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who presided over the meeting, stated that President Tinubu had fulfilled many of his campaign promises and should be supported to continue the reforms he has started. “Our President has proven his capacity and vision for Nigeria. This is a unanimous call from Lagos to Aso Rock — we want him to run again,” Sanwo-Olu declared.

Also in attendance were former governors Babatunde Fashola and Akinwunmi Ambode, Deputy Governor Obafemi Hamzat, ministers, senators, local government chairmen, and other influential leaders. The meeting also featured a presentation on voter apathy and the need for increased civic engagement.

Senator Tokunbo Abiru, speaking on behalf of the National Assembly Caucus, praised Tinubu’s leadership, saying his strategic reforms have positively transformed the nation. “As President, he is applying the same visionary approach that turned Lagos into a model of development,” Abiru said, reaffirming the state’s unwavering support for his re-election.

APC National Secretary, Senator Ajibola Basiru, emphasised the importance of not only registering voters but also ensuring they turn out to vote during elections. The state chairman, Cornelius Ojelabi, announced incentives for units, wards, and local governments that record the highest number of registered voters, promising monetary rewards to boost participation.

Fashola, in his remarks, urged the party to focus on re-energising voter enthusiasm, noting the decline in voter turnout in recent elections. He also called for introspection on how well the party’s policies resonate with citizens, insisting that “Renewed Hope should bring renewed enthusiasm.”

The meeting concluded with renewed commitment from Lagos APC leaders to ensure massive grassroots mobilisation for President Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
