The Enugu State Police Command has begun a manhunt for the suspects behind the killing of a staff member of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), identified as Cosmas, in the Emene area of Enugu.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to local sources, the incident occurred on Tuesday evening as Cosmas was returning home from work. Armed assailants reportedly intercepted his vehicle in an apparent carjacking attempt. When he resisted, they opened fire, fatally shooting him.
“He had just left the depot and was heading home when the gunmen double-crossed him. They tried to take his car, but he wouldn’t give in. That’s when they shot him on the spot,” said a source familiar with the situation, who asked not to be named.
Another resident, identified only as Johnson, said that the sound of gunfire drew the attention of nearby residents. “People rushed to the scene and found him in a pool of blood. He was taken to the hospital, but he was pronounced dead on arrival,” he recounted.
A video obtained by PUNCH Metro shows the victim’s body on a hospital bed, underscoring the brutality of the attack.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Enugu State Police Command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, stated that investigations were underway. “Yes, it is a case of murder, and we have opened a full investigation to track down those responsible,” Ndukwe said.
Cosmas’s death adds to a growing list of violent crimes in the region, sparking renewed concerns about security and police responsiveness.
