“We Gave You A Car!” – Wale Adenuga Blasts Papa Ajasco.
According to Nivo News, veteran filmmaker and Chief Executive Officer of Wale Adenuga Productions, Wale Adenuga, has dismissed allegations made by Nollywood actor Abiodun Ayoyinka, widely known as Papa Ajasco.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Ayoyinka had earlier claimed he was facing financial hardship despite his longstanding role in the popular television series Papa Ajasco and Company, alleging he could not freely use the “Papa Ajasco” identity without approval from the production company.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Adenuga refuted the claims, clarifying that the actor has not been restricted from taking on commercial engagements. He explained that any use of the “Papa Ajasco” brand requires formal approval as part of measures to safeguard the integrity of the franchise.
Adenuga described Ayoyinka as a talented actor who closely resembles the original Papa Ajasco character created in 1976, noting that there has been no significant conflict between them. He further revealed that Ayoyinka previously served as a civil servant with the Lagos State Government for over three decades and was actively involved in the state’s cultural troupe.
Addressing claims of neglect, Adenuga maintained that the production company had consistently supported the actor, including providing him with a car, similar to other cast members. He also stated that Ayoyinka had access to several vehicles over time and is believed to own property in Ogun State.
He emphasised that restrictions on the use of the “Papa Ajasco” name are necessary to prevent misuse and protect the brand’s reputation, stressing that actors in the series are free to pursue other opportunities outside the show.
Questioning the actor’s claims of financial struggles, Adenuga raised concerns about how Ayoyinka managed his earnings and benefits from his lengthy civil service career. He added that other members of the cast, including Pa James and other notable characters, continue to engage in independent projects beyond the series.
Adenuga also pointed out that actors typically spend only a few weeks each year on set, allowing sufficient time for other professional engagements.
