Victor Osimhen Sends Strong Message To Liverpool Ahead Of Champions League Draw.
Victor Osimhen has shared his thoughts on Galatasaray’s potential opponents in the UEFA Champions League round of 16, highlighting that a tie against Liverpool would carry extra significance.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Following Galatasaray’s dramatic play-off victory over Juventus, which secured their spot in the knockout stages, focus has shifted to Friday’s draw and the quality of teams awaiting the Turkish champions. Possible opponents include Premier League heavyweights Liverpool and Tottenham, both capable of challenging any side in Europe.
Osimhen, however, indicated that while Galatasaray are prepared for any team, there are certain matchups he would rather avoid.
“To be honest, facing Liverpool now would feel a bit like revenge,” the Nigerian striker told CBS Sports. “I wouldn’t say much about anyone else, but I’d prefer to avoid Liverpool. If we get them, though, we’ll fight, but it won’t be easy.”
The Turkish side has already beaten Liverpool 1-0 in Istanbul during the group stage, with Osimhen scoring the winning goal. Yet he acknowledged that an away trip to Anfield would present a completely different challenge.
He added, “This is the Champions League, no team is easy. Just look at how well Bodo/Glimt are doing in the tournament. If you want to win, you have to face the big teams and prove yourself. We’ve met Liverpool, but not at Anfield. If we face them, it’ll be an amazing game. We’re ready for the challenge. It won’t be easy, but we have the fight in us.”
The draw for the 2025-2026 UEFA Champions League round of 16 is set for Friday, February 27.
