The controversy arose after old social media posts linked to Simi, reportedly from 2012, resurfaced. Some users claimed the posts contained statements about children at her mother’s daycare, prompting renewed attention following Simi’s comments on sexual assault issues in Nigeria after TikToker Mirabel’s rape claims.

Although Mirabel later admitted her allegation was false, attention shifted to Simi’s past posts, some of which allegedly referenced a young child showing affection toward her in a way deemed inappropriate by online users. Calls for government investigation followed.

Simi later explained that she made the posts at age 23 while assisting at her mother’s daycare center. Despite her explanation, public pressure persisted for authorities to act.

Vivour-Adeniyi also recommended that the Ogun State Government conduct a preliminary review of the claims, as the alleged incidents reportedly occurred there. She emphasized that authorities have a duty to investigate publicly raised allegations of abuse or misconduct, but legal action cannot proceed without proper documentation and a formal statement from someone directly affected.

She added: “As for the Simi case, we cannot pretend we have not seen these reports. We have a duty to at least begin a preliminary investigation. The truth is that it will be very difficult to prosecute without a survivor being present.”

Describing politics as a reciprocal process, Wike stressed that the era of empty promises was over:

“Leaders must demonstrate their commitment to delivering good governance. You cannot make promises during elections and vanish afterward without fulfilling them. We asked you to support Tinubu, starting with the area council elections. On February 21, you came through, delivering 133 of the 135 polling units in the council for Tinubu. What more can we say but thank you? You have done your part; we will now do ours. Abaji people have spoken, and they spoke decisively,” he said.
