Prof. Aminu Gusau, former Coordinating Director of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has lauded FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for his bold governance, infrastructural revitalization, and decisive leadership.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Gusau made the commendation in Abuja on Tuesday during the 2026 Annual Distinguished Personality Lecture Series, organized by the Faculty of Social Sciences at Yakubu Gowon University.

Wike, the honoree of the lecture, delivered a presentation titled, “The Impact of Political Leadership on Infrastructural Development in Nigeria: Between Dividends of Democracy and Good Governance.”

Speaking as chairman of the event, Gusau, a visiting professor at the University of Kansas, United States, described Wike as a “public servant whose tenure in the FCT has been marked by visible transformation and accelerated project delivery.”

He noted that since assuming office in August 2023, Wike has pursued an ambitious agenda to restore the Abuja Master Plan, strengthen infrastructure, and revive long-stalled projects.

“Major road networks across the territory have been rehabilitated and completed, including critical arterial routes linking the city centre to satellite towns,” Gusau said.

He highlighted projects such as the Apo-Wasa Road, revitalized inner-city corridors, and strategic junction upgrades, emphasizing their impact on mobility and economic activity. Satellite towns like Gwagwalada, Kubwa, Bwari, and Karu have also seen significant improvements in roads, drainage systems, and public infrastructure.

“Previously stalled contracts have been revived and completed, reflecting a governance approach that prioritizes continuity and accountability,” Gusau added.

Beyond transportation, he praised the Wike-led FCT Administration for strengthening development control enforcement, land administration reforms, street lighting, environmental sanitation, and public space management, all of which have enhanced transparency, urban order, security, and aesthetics.

According to Gusau, effective leadership demands firmness, resolve, and sometimes unpopular decisions. He said Wike’s record—from his tenure as Governor of Rivers State to his current role as FCT Minister—demonstrates decisive execution, infrastructure expansion, and institutional assertiveness.

“Having spent over 27 years in the United States and served as a university lecturer, I’ve observed leadership models across various systems. Truly effective leaders combine good intentions with tangible results. Minister Wike belongs to that category. You may like his personality or not, but one thing is certain: he works—and he works for the people,” he said.

Gusau emphasized that governance is measured by outcomes, adding, “Leadership becomes tangible when citizens witness completed roads, revived projects, improved lighting, strengthened regulation, and enhanced public administration.”

He concluded that universities, as centers of critical thinking, are ideal venues to examine leadership objectively. “In that regard, Wike’s tenure provides substantial evidence of performance-driven governance,” Gusau said.

“The Truth Finally Out: How Peter Obi Shocked Critics By Leaving ₦86.6 Billion Behind In Anambra!”

Published

on

Oseloka Obaze, a former Secretary to the Anambra State Government, has stated that former governor Peter Obi left ₦86.6 billion in the state treasury when he handed over power in 2014. Obaze, who served under Obi from 2006 to 2014, made this revelation in a post on X amid ongoing controversies regarding the financial records inherited by successive administrations.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Obaze noted that he was personally present on March 17, 2014, when Obi officially handed over financial documents and the Handover Report to his successor, Willie Obiano. According to him, Obiano received and signed an acknowledgment copy of the letter, which included certified bank statements detailing the state’s assets and liabilities.

Past Debates and Public Corroboration

Recalling the 2017 Anambra governorship debate organized by Channels Television, Obaze mentioned that he challenged Obiano—a certified accountant and auditor—on national television for later expressing reservations about the funds after formally signing off on the handover documents. Following this, Obiano publicly acknowledged that certain funds were left behind, though he questioned the rationale of saving money instead of executing projects.

Obaze also referenced remarks from former Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku, noting that Obiano once told the Nigerian Press Corps that Obi left substantial funds used to finance the construction of the Anambra Airport at Umueri. Additionally, he cited comments from Abia State Governor Alex Otti, a former banker, as further public validation of the financial legacy.

Expressing confusion over why the records remain a subject of dispute under the current administration, Obaze concluded: “If Governor Obiano… would eventually acknowledge, implicitly and explicit, that Governor Peter Obi indeed left the stipulated funds; a fact that was also publicly corroborated by Governor Alex Otti… what then, one may ask, is the beef and grouse of the incumbent Anambra State Government?”
