“Shettima Urges Adamawa, Bauchi Governors To Join APC”.
Shettima Hails Taraba Governor’s Defection, Urges Adamawa, Bauchi Leaders to Join APC....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Vice President Kashim Shettima has described the defection of Taraba State Governor Agbu Kefas to the All Progressives Congress (APC) as both “personal and touching,” saying it signals a wider political realignment in the North-East.
Shettima made the remarks on Saturday in Jalingo, the Taraba State capital, during a grand reception organized by the APC to formally welcome the governor into the ruling party.
The Vice President said Kefas’ move is a source of pride for the APC, noting that the party now controls more states in the North-East. He also expressed hope that governors of Adamawa and Bauchi, currently under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), would soon “reconsider their positions” and join the APC.
Declaring Governor Kefas as the APC leader in Taraba, Shettima urged party members to fully support him.
Kefas Speaks on Defection
At the event, Governor Kefas said his decision to defect was not driven by political ambition but by a desire to reposition Taraba for growth. He added that President Bola Tinubu’s vision under the Renewed Hope agenda influenced his choice.
Kefas assured citizens that his administration would continue to prioritize people-oriented governance and deliver visible development projects across sectors.
APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda described the defection as a “masterstroke” in the interest of the people. He also called on other PDP governors to reconsider their stance and join what he called “the progressive movement.”
