According to Nivo News, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, ex–Vice President Atiku Abubakar, and the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, were among prominent national figures who converged in Abuja on Saturday for a high-profile political gathering.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The trio attended a colloquium organised to mark the 60th birthday of former Sokoto State Governor and Senator, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal. The event, themed “Leadership, Service and Statesmanship at 60,” took place at the New Event Hall of the Transcorp Hilton Hotel and drew a wide array of political leaders, stakeholders, and opinion shapers from across the country.
Atiku, who confirmed his presence at the event via a post on his verified social media handle, disclosed that he had arrived at the venue for the commemorative colloquium held in honour of Tambuwal’s milestone birthday. He also shared photographs from the occasion, featuring himself alongside Obasanjo and Obi, further fuelling public interest in the meeting of the influential political figures.
The gathering has since sparked conversations within political circles, given the stature of the attendees and the broader implications for Nigeria’s evolving political landscape.
Meanwhile, former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has accused Atiku, Tambuwal, and a former national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) of contributing to the party’s decline. Fayose, while speaking during a televised political programme, alleged that internal actions by key figures weakened the PDP, describing politics as inherently unfair.
He also weighed in on the ongoing political rift between Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, expressing surprise at the fallout between the two leaders. Fayose recalled advising against betrayal during Fubara’s inauguration, noting that he never anticipated the current level of discord.
