Delta Governor Aide Alleges Dede Was “Robbed” in BBNaija S10, Threatens Legal Action

Published

on

LAGOS, Nigeria — An aide to the Delta State governor has publicly accused organizers of Big Brother Naija Season 10 of rigging the outcome after Dede, a contestant from Delta State, finished as runner-up instead of winning. The controversy is already fueling debate across social media and reality TV circles.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Aide Alleges Regional Bias, Announces Legal Move

On Monday, Ossai Ovie Success, Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State governor, posted on X (formerly Twitter) that “Dede was robbed by BBNaija organisers because Delta boy Kellyrae won last year … so they didn’t want another Delta to win this year’s edition.”

He argued that Dede deserved to be crowned winner, not simply because of her origin from Delta, but as recognition of her performance and popularity. He further threatened to sue the organizers of BBNaija on her behalf, alleging that the voting process was manipulated.

The Result: Imisi Crowned Winner

Imisi (Opeyemi Ayanwale) was declared the winner of BBNaija Season 10 during Sunday’s live finale, securing the ₦150 million grand prize.

Dede (Precious Ashiogwu) came in second place, making her runner-up.

Following the announcement, Ossai’s statements sparked waves of reaction—some supporting the claims, others defending Imisi’s victory as fair and deserved.

What the Aide Claims — and What’s Missing

Ossai’s main claims rest on two points:

  1. Regional bias: He suggests that because a Delta native (Kellyrae) won in Season 9, the organizers intentionally prevented another Delta contestant from winning again.

  2. Voting rigging: He asserts that the voting process was unfair and that Dede should have legitimately taken the crown.

But as of now, no formal legal filing or evidence (such as internal vote records or independent audit) has been presented publicly to support the allegations.

Reactions and Public Debate

Social media quickly became a battlefield for competing views:

  • Supporters of Dede have rallied behind Ossai’s statements, calling for transparency and demanding that the organizers release detailed voting data.

  • Fans of Imisi and neutral observers argue that the show released a voting chart showing how viewers voted, with Imisi leading by a significant margin.

  • Critics of the aide’s claims point out that many contestants from Delta have participated in past seasons without winning, and that public voting is inherently unpredictable.

As of now, no legal documents have surfaced in court or from the BBNaija organizers responding to the threat.

Why This Matters (to Viewers and Reality TV Fans)

  • Transparency and trust: Reality TV relies heavily on viewer trust. Allegations of rigging raise doubts among fans about fairness and credibility.

  • Regional tensions: In Nigeria, regional identity and representation are sensitive topics. Claims that a contestant was denied victory because of origin tap into broader issues about equity and representation in entertainment and media.

  • Legal precedent: If a successful lawsuit is filed, it could set a precedent for how reality show contestants can challenge outcomes in court.

Nigerian music executive Don Jazzy has sparked reactions online after sharing a lighthearted explanation about why many modern marriages seem to break down faster than those of previous generations.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a video that quickly went viral on social media, the Mavin Records boss used wedding cakes as a humorous analogy to compare past and present relationships.

He noted that in earlier times, couples often used fruit cakes made with alcohol for weddings. According to him, such cakes were durable and could last for long periods—sometimes up to a year—allowing couples to preserve and even share portions during their first wedding anniversary.

He jokingly suggested that this long-lasting nature of traditional cakes symbolically reflected the stability of marriages in the past.

Don Jazzy contrasted this with today’s trend, where many couples opt for butter or ice-cream cakes that require careful storage and spoil more easily.

He humorously implied that the shorter lifespan of these modern cakes mirrors the perceived fragility of some contemporary marriages.

He also pointed out that many modern wedding cakes are often heavily decorated with non-edible materials, with only a small portion actually meant for consumption.
