Amaechi made the remarks during the ADC Progressive Movement meeting in Lagos, where he addressed ongoing online exchanges allegedly involving supporters of former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

He explained that his followers have deliberately stayed away from online altercations based on his directive aimed at promoting peace and unity within the party.

Amaechi said, “My supporters don’t engage in fights on social media. My people don’t fight. Have you seen any Amaechi person fighting on social media? It is between Atiku people and Obi people, and Obi people abusing me, we will never reply.”

He added that the decision was not due to inability to respond but a conscious effort to prevent unnecessary division within the party.

“It’s not because we don’t know English or we can’t reply. The reason why we don’t reply is that we always want peace,” he said.

The former Rivers State governor also questioned the firm stance of some supporters who insist that the ADC presidential ticket must go to their preferred candidates.

He said, “The Obidients insist ‘Obi or nothing.’ Do they have the numbers? That’s the question. The Atiku people say ‘Atiku or nothing.’ Do they have the numbers?”

Amaechi stressed the importance of caution in political communication, noting that reconciliation after party primaries is often necessary.

Expressing confidence in his chances, he said his camp believes it will secure the ADC presidential ticket, which is why his supporters have avoided engaging in insults or online battles.

He said, “There are things to say when you win. It becomes difficult to bring everybody together, so because we know we will win, we’re not abusing anybody. So we can bring everybody together.

“So that question should not be asked to me because I am not abusing anybody. I am careful what I say, my team is under permanent instructions, don’t abuse anybody in ADC.”

Reports indicate that both politicians have not issued any public response to the apex court’s decision.

Meanwhile, several prominent figures in the party, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, have already reacted to the judgment, which reaffirmed the David Mark-led leadership of the ADC.

Reacting to the silence of Obi and Kwankwaso, Okai, in a Facebook post, questioned whether the duo were dissatisfied with the court outcome or deliberately avoiding commentary.

He expressed surprise that they had remained quiet despite previously participating in protests over the party’s internal issues.

Okai wrote, “After all the protests, and just 48 hours after David Mark and the ADC’s Supreme Court victory, Obi and Kwankwaso have still refused to say a word.

“Are they not happy that their own party won the same case they were protesting? They could have at least pretended a little. Haba!”

In a related development, the Kwankwasiyya movement has disclosed that Rabiu Kwankwaso is expected to leave the ADC for the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) next week.

This signals a major realignment within the opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

A spokesperson for the movement, Habibu Mohammed, said the decision followed unanimous approval by stakeholders across Kano State.

He explained that representatives from all 44 local government areas met at Kwankwaso’s residence, where they agreed on the political move.

“The stakeholders have unanimously given him the go-ahead to move to the NDC,” Mohammed stated.

He further revealed that Peter Obi is also expected to join Kwankwaso in the NDC, according to ongoing political consultations.

“I believe him, Peter Obi, and some others will be joining the NDC,” he added.

Mohammed noted that discussions with the NDC were about 90 percent complete, with only minor issues remaining.

He attributed the planned defection to the ongoing leadership crisis within the ADC, describing the situation as unstable for sustained political engagement.

He also referenced the Supreme Court ruling, which sent the matter back to the Federal High Court, saying it had prolonged uncertainty within the party.

According to him, “It does not look feasible to stay there… the entire caucus voted unanimously that a better platform, not embedded in a leadership tussle, should be used.”

He added that deadlines set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for submission of party membership registers also influenced the decision.

The movement reportedly weighed options between the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP) and the NDC before settling on the latter.

He also pointed to internal disagreements within the ADC, including disputes over zoning and consensus arrangements, as contributing factors.

Meanwhile, Obi has reportedly not attended recent ADC meetings since the opposition summit held in Ibadan, amid concerns over the handling of the party’s presidential zoning structure.

According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs through its spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa, the government said the message falsely claims that vacancies exist in the Nigerian Diplomatic Service, particularly within consular sections of embassies abroad.

The ministry explained that the scam message also alleges that some applicants have already been shortlisted and requests payment for the processing of a so-called “credence note.” It stressed that this claim is false and part of a coordinated attempt by fraudsters to defraud the public.

It further clarified that there is currently no recruitment exercise for Nigerian missions overseas, urging citizens to disregard and avoid engaging with such communications, as they did not originate from any official government source.

The ministry also emphasized that recruitment into the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Nigerian Foreign Service is never conducted via email, WhatsApp, or unsolicited messages. It noted that all legitimate recruitment processes are handled strictly through the Federal Civil Service Commission using approved official procedures.

The statement read in part: “The ministry wishes to state unequivocally that the communication is fake and misleading and the handiwork of unscrupulous elements seeking to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.

“No fees are required at any stage of recruitment or diplomatic postings within the ministry or Nigeria’s missions abroad.

“The Ministry does not authorise any individual or entity to request payments on its behalf for employment or diplomatic appointments.

“The inclusion of a reference to DSS clearance and attribution to the ministry’s spokesperson in the fraudulent message is a deliberate attempt to deceive the public.”
