Governor Oborevwori Slams Contractor Over Substandard Work on Delta Road Project
Governor Oborevwori Slams Contractor Over Substandard Work on Delta Road Project....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State publicly criticized the contracting firm Dora-Dan Global Resources on Tuesday for their handling of the 9.1km Isheagu-Ewulu road project in Aniocha South Local Government Area. Expressing his frustration, the governor labeled the contractor’s actions as “pure wickedness” and demanded immediate rectification of the substandard side drains associated with the project.
During an inspection of the Ubu bridge along the Ughelli-Asaba road dualization project, Oborevwori emphasized the need for the contractor to address all observed issues. He warned that if the necessary corrections were not made, he would refrain from commissioning the project, which has a budget exceeding N4 billion.
The Isheagu-Ewulu road project was awarded in 2021 by the previous administration of Ifeanyi Okowa to Dora-Dan Global Resources, a firm reportedly owned by Ifeanyi, an ally of Okowa from the Delta North senatorial district. Concerns have emerged regarding the awarding of numerous contracts to “mushroom companies” from that region during Okowa’s tenure, often resulting in the use of substandard materials for high-value projects.
While inspecting the Ubu bridge project at Ogwashi-Uku, Governor Oborevwori noted that the project is expected to be completed by December 2024. He expressed satisfaction with the asphalt work completed on the Isheagu-Ewulu road, despite identifying issues with the drainage system.
“We are satisfied with the asphalt work. However, we need the contractor to correct the drains before we can move forward with the commissioning. My administration has zero tolerance for substandard projects,” he stated.
Oborevwori also addressed the challenges faced by the construction teams due to recent heavy rains, highlighting their assurance that the bridge would be completed on schedule. “They don’t have any reason not to work because they are on ISPO, so they don’t lack money,” he concluded, reiterating his commitment to ensuring quality in infrastructure development within the state.

Political Power Move: Wike Claps Back At Chinda’s Detractors, Vows INEC Will Clear The Air In July.
Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister Nyesom Wike has pushed back against reports suggesting that his preferred candidates for the 2027 Rivers State elections have been disqualified by the courts. Addressing the ongoing political turbulence, Wike dismissed the claims as premature and urged critics to await the official candidate list to be released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in July.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The tension stems from a recent court ruling that reinstated Emeka Beke’s leadership within the Rivers State All Progressives Congress (APC), effectively nullifying the primaries that produced candidates aligned with Wike’s camp, including governorship hopeful Kingsley Chinda. This legal development, bolstered by a Court of Appeal decision regarding the party’s state chairmanship, has sparked significant uncertainty regarding the legitimacy of the nominations.
In response to these developments, Wike characterized the assertions made by Beke and other detractors as mere speculation. “In July, the candidates of the parties will be published by INEC. Let us wait till July. We are tired of hearing from people who have lost out,” the Minister stated.
Separately, Wike addressed the kidnapping of teachers and pupils in Oyo State. While emphasizing that the safety of all Nigerians is a paramount concern, he cautioned against the politicization of such tragedies. He argued that the issue of insecurity should be approached with sincerity rather than being used as a tool for partisan maneuvering or political blame games.

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has adjusted its gantry price for Premium Motor Spirit (petrol), lowering it from ₦1,275 to ₦1,250 per litre, marking a two per cent reduction. This price shift is attributed to a decline in international crude oil prices, which serve as the refinery’s primary feedstock.
