400 Nigerians Deported from the UAE Amid Ongoing Diplomatic Tensions
400 Nigerians Deported from the UAE Amid Ongoing Diplomatic Tensions....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Recent reports indicate that 400 Nigerians have been deported from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and have safely arrived back in Nigeria. The deportees were welcomed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja by officials from the Office of the National Security Adviser. This reception involved collaboration with various stakeholders, including the National Commission for Refugees, Migrants, and Internally Displaced Persons, the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP), and the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
Among those deported, there were 90 females and 310 males, highlighting the mixed demographics of those affected by the recent deportations. This move comes after the Federal Government repatriated 190 Nigerians from the UAE just a month prior, in July 2024.
Ongoing Diplomatic Issues Between Nigeria and the UAE
The relationship between Nigeria and the UAE has been strained for nearly two years, primarily due to a visa ban imposed on Nigerians. This ban arose from several diplomatic disputes, including a significant financial disagreement. One notable issue was when Dubai’s Emirates Airline suspended flights to Nigeria after the Central Bank of Nigeria failed to remit approximately $85 million in revenue owed to the UAE.
In recent developments, following numerous negotiations with UAE authorities, the Nigerian government reassured its citizens that the visa ban would soon be lifted. Notably, in July, it was revealed that Nigeria had paid 98 percent of the $850 million owed to the UAE, suggesting that progress was being made to resolve these long-standing diplomatic tensions.
Despite the recent deportation of 400 Nigerians, both nations appear to be moving towards an agreement to lift travel restrictions on Nigerian citizens. Just last month, the UAE government announced that it had officially lifted the visa restrictions on Nigerians, effective immediately.

Atiku Opens Up On ADC 2027 Game Plan, Says Consensus Candidate Comes First.
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has said the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will first pursue a consensus arrangement before considering a primary election for its 2027 presidential ticket.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Atiku made this known during an interview on Arise Television on Wednesday while discussing the party’s leadership and strategy ahead of the next general election.
He said he is open to backing a consensus candidate if that becomes the party’s collective decision, stressing that such support should not be interpreted as stepping aside.
“It is not about stepping aside, but whether I am willing to support, and yes, I will,” Atiku said.
According to him, the ADC’s first priority is to build internal unity and reach an agreement among stakeholders before considering a competitive primary process.
“Our first option will be to work out a consensus. If that doesn’t happen, then of course we will explore other options. And yes, I will support whoever eventually emerges,” he stated.
Atiku also expressed confidence in the political experience within the party, saying he believes a consensus is achievable and may make a full-scale primary contest unnecessary.
“That remains our preferred path. We will go for primaries if consensus fails, but I honestly do not expect it to get to that stage because we are dealing with mature and experienced politicians,” he added.
His comments come amid growing political consultations and coalition talks as parties begin to position themselves ahead of the 2027 general elections.
