Rivers State Governor Urges Traditional Rulers to Foster Peace and Development....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, recently called upon traditional rulers to rise above partisanship and embrace their roles as unifiers in their communities. During a ceremony held in Government House, Port Harcourt, where he presented certificates of recognition and staff of office to two first-class traditional rulers, Fubara emphasized the importance of inclusivity and forgiveness.
Fubara urged the newly recognized monarchs to act as fathers to all subjects, regardless of past rivalries. “You should not use your privileged positions to victimize those who may not have supported your ascension to the throne,” he stated. The governor encouraged the royal fathers to foster harmonious relationships within their domains, promoting peaceful coexistence and development.
Emphasizing Peaceful Coexistence
During the ceremony, the governor highlighted that traditional rulers should work collaboratively with the State Government and various stakeholders to ensure stability and growth. He reminded them that their leadership roles should be about serving the people and enhancing community welfare. “Discard feelings of animosity and resist the inclination to undo anybody for whatever reason,” Fubara said. Instead, he urged them to embrace a spirit of forgiveness and inclusivity.
Fubara presented the certificates to His Majesty, King Marcus Oduma Woyike of Ikwerre Local Government Area, and His Majesty, King Ndamzi Nsirim of Obio/Akpor Local Government Area. He reiterated that their recognition by the government was a fulfillment of the traditional processes already in place, stating, “What we are doing here is just a fulfillment of what is already existing.”
Call for Good Governance
The governor underscored that the newly recognized monarchs should see their positions as opportunities to support good governance while protecting the interests of their communities. “As traditional rulers, your responsibility is to ensure peace and security in your domains,” he urged. He emphasized the need for fair and just leadership to better understand and meet the needs of their subjects.
In addressing the traditional rulers, Fubara stated, “It is an opportunity that God has created for you. It is not for you to use it to undo your people.” He urged them to be champions of unity and development, ensuring that their reigns are remembered for positive change.
Support for Traditional Rulers
The governor assured the traditional rulers of his administration’s support, reminding them that their new roles integrate them into the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers. He encouraged them to leverage their experiences to contribute meaningfully to the state’s peace and sustainable development.
The Commissioner for Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development, Engr Charles Amadi, opened the event by introducing the traditional rulers, noting their successful completion of the traditional selection and installation processes. He affirmed that they were worthy of government recognition and the associated honors.

Shehu Sani Jokes PDP Crisis: Makinde, Bala Mohammed Could Face ‘Hourly Loyalty Checks’.
Former lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani, has weighed in on the escalating crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), joking that the party’s remaining governors may soon have to constantly reassure each other of their loyalty.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Sani shared his remark on X on Wednesday, noting that if PDP is eventually left with only two governors—Seyi Makinde and Bala Mohammed—they might find themselves frequently checking in with one another.
“Now that the PDP has only two governors remaining, the two will have to be calling each other every hour to be sure…with words like ‘I hope we are still together’ or ‘I hope you still dey,’” he wrote.
His comment comes amid rising tensions following a Court of Appeal ruling, which upheld earlier judgments preventing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from recognising the results of the party’s disputed national convention in Ibadan, Oyo State, in November 2025.
The court found that the convention violated both statutory requirements and the PDP constitution, further deepening divisions within the party.

Speaking during a meeting with Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah, Cubana clarified that the movement is not a political party, but a platform supporting Tinubu’s re-election bid.
“The unique aspect of this movement is that it’s composed mostly of young businessmen, not politicians. Our mission is to uplift our communities by educating and reorienting people about our collective path forward,” he said.
Cubana stressed the importance of unity and constructive engagement with the Federal Government. “We believe in the leadership of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu. As young professionals and successful entrepreneurs, we are letting our people know that we are fully behind the President and his re-election. Igbo voices must be included at the center, and divisive politics should be avoided,” he added.
He highlighted the need for regional development and connection to federal initiatives, noting, “There must be balance and recognition of every region. Our communities need access to infrastructure, gas, and rail systems.”
Cubana further emphasized that meaningful progress requires collaboration with the government. “Opposition without engagement won’t leave a lasting impact. The City Boy Movement stands on Tinubu’s mandate. Our aim is the advancement of Igbo land, and it is our responsibility to educate our people. We are solidly behind Tinubu,” he concluded.
