PDP Summons Nyesom Wike Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities
PDP Summons Nyesom Wike Over Alleged Anti-Party Activities....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has summoned former Rivers State Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to address allegations of anti-party activities. This announcement was made by PDP Deputy National Publicity Secretary Ibrahim Abdullahi during an interview on Channels Television’s program, Sunrise Daily, on Monday.
Abdullahi explained that Wike has been asked to appear before the disciplinary committee led by Chief Tom Ikimi, which was established by the party’s National Working Committee. “Three weeks ago, we set up two committees: one for reconciliation and the other for discipline. Nyesom Wike is among those required to face the disciplinary committee, which will examine allegations of anti-party activities,” Abdullahi stated.
He noted that the party has received numerous petitions alleging that Wike and other members engaged in sabotaging activities during the party’s primaries. These complaints have been compiled and forwarded to the committee for investigation. Abdullahi mentioned that some party members believe Wike should not have retained his membership in the PDP at this stage, leading to further scrutiny from the party leadership.
Abdullahi also criticized Wike’s recent remarks suggesting he would “put fire in their states” regarding PDP governors. He called these statements inappropriate and emphasized the importance of Wike carefully managing his words. “That was a very disappointing remark. We weren’t expecting him to say that, and to be honest, we do not support him on this,” he added.
This statement came just days after Wike expressed satisfaction with his role in the Bola Tinubu administration, despite facing backlash from party members. During a PDP Congress in Port Harcourt, he threatened to instigate a political crisis in the states of any PDP governor attempting to meddle in party affairs in Rivers State. Wike further provoked criticism by stating that those unhappy with his position in the Tinubu government should “go and hug the transformer.”
As tensions rise within the party, all eyes are on the disciplinary committee’s proceedings and the potential implications for Wike’s political future within the PDP.
