Bauchi State Governor Approves N6.5 Million Initial Deposit for 2025 Hajj....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has approved a minimum initial deposit of N6.5 million for pilgrims intending to participate in the 2025 Hajj. This decision was made to facilitate early preparations and ensure smooth planning for the pilgrims from Bauchi State.
In a press release issued on Tuesday, September 10, 2024, by Muhammad Yunusa, the Information Officer of the Bauchi State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, it was disclosed that the collection of deposits will commence on Wednesday, September 11, 2024. The Board cited the rising costs of Hajj, which reached over N8 million in 2024 due to the naira’s devaluation against the dollar, as the reason for setting this amount.
Rising Hajj Costs Due to Naira Devaluation
The statement emphasized that the board had no choice but to set the initial deposit at N6.5 million, considering the financial challenges associated with the 2024 Hajj fare. The steep rise in costs was primarily driven by the currency devaluation, pushing the expenses beyond previous years’ expectations. The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) is yet to announce the final fare for 2025, but the board encourages intending pilgrims to deposit between N6.5 million and N8 million to ensure they can cover the final cost when it is disclosed.
Payment Procedure and Guidelines
Intending pilgrims are reminded to make all payments through bank tellers, as cash payments will not be accepted. Those wishing to make their payments via local government offices are instructed to collect a customized Hajj bank teller from the Hajj Affairs Officer at their local government secretariat.
For those opting to pay through the Bauchi State Pilgrims Welfare Board, the designated payment point has been transferred to Jaiz Bank. Furthermore, pilgrims are encouraged to register under the Hajj Savings Scheme (HSS) at Jaiz Bank, which offers a structured way to save for the pilgrimage.
