Journalist David Hundeyin Reveals Targeted Persecution by Nigerian Authorities Over Whistleblower Case
Journalist David Hundeyin Reveals Targeted Persecution by Nigerian Authorities Over Whistleblower Case....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Investigative journalist David Hundeyin has shed light on the reasons behind the Nigeria Police Force’s decision to label him as an accomplice in the ongoing trial of whistleblower Isaac Tamunobifiri, known as PIDOM. In an interview with News Central Television on Wednesday, Hundeyin explained that his inclusion in the case stems from his commitment to truth-telling, which the current administration views as a threat.
Hundeyin disclosed that the government’s efforts to involve him in a criminal investigation are part of a broader strategy to discredit his international refugee status and potentially place him on an Interpol notice list. These actions, he suggested, are aimed at silencing him and undermining his credibility as a journalist.
He also revealed that in 2023, the National Intelligence Agency made multiple attempts to abduct him while he was abroad, targeting him in Ghana and Kenya before he ultimately sought refuge in the United Kingdom. “There were several attempts by the National Intelligence Agency to abduct me. They also tried to render me stateless. I even tried to change my country twice,” Hundeyin stated. He recounted his harrowing experience of evading capture, emphasizing that these actions are the price of truth-telling in a regime that views such acts as an affront.
Regarding his designation as an accomplice in the PIDOM trial, Hundeyin said he had anticipated such a move. He became wary after noticing attempts to hack his devices, which prompted him to take precautions. “The educated guess that I had then was that this was probably a state security attempt to rope me into some criminal investigation to discredit my international refugee status,” Hundeyin explained. He added that the Nigerian authorities’ efforts to implicate him are likely intended to restrict his movements and create the appearance that they are closing in on him.
Hundeyin also highlighted the dire condition of PIDOM, who is currently detained in the Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID). He alleged that PIDOM was exposed to a toxic substance in detention, causing severe respiratory difficulties. “He cannot breathe properly; you can hear it in his voice. Clearly, something is wrong with him,” Hundeyin noted.
The case against PIDOM, who has been remanded in Kuje Correctional Facility, includes charges of leaking classified documents, fraud, sedition, and tax evasion. The Force Spokesperson, Muyiwa Adejobi, stated that PIDOM resisted arrest and destroyed evidence during his apprehension.

2027 Power Struggle: Nwebonyi Rubbishes Rumors Of Single-Term Zoning For Ebonyi North.
Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, the Deputy Chief Whip of the Senate, has rejected assertions that he is breaching a zoning agreement that would supposedly limit Ebonyi North senators to one term. Speaking to the press in Abakaliki on Sunday, the Senator pointed to the precedent set by former Governor Sam Egwu, who successfully served two terms in the Senate, to argue that the alleged one-term policy lacks binding authority. Highlighting his own constituency initiatives and record, Nwebonyi stated he faces no serious competition for his seat and emphasized that public service should be defined by sacrifice rather than personal gain.
Additionally, the Senator expressed strong support for the APC’s prospects in Ebonyi State and lauded President Bola Tinubu for prioritizing infrastructure development in the South-East. He further praised Governor Francis Nwifuru as a unifying leader, dismissing rumors of friction within the Izzi clan and calling on stakeholders to prioritize the state’s collective development over divisive politics.

The festivities, which began after 2 p.m. at the Emirates Stadium, wound through Highbury, Canonbury, and Upper Street before concluding back at the stadium. This parade honored a league victory confirmed on May 19, ending a 22-year championship drought. During the event, fans were seen climbing trees and rooftops to see Mikel Arteta’s squad as the players showcased the Premier League trophy. The procession included four buses, one of which carried the Arsenal Women’s team, winners of the inaugural Women’s Champions Cup this past February.
This celebration followed a heartbreaking 1-1 draw against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final in Budapest on Saturday, where Arsenal ultimately fell in a penalty shootout after misses by Eberechi Eze and Gabriel Magalhaes. Despite the European defeat, the Premier League title held immense significance for the team, coming after three consecutive seasons as runners-up. Reflecting on the massive turnout, journalist Matt Graveling described the celebration as the largest sporting event he had witnessed in his 15-year career.
