Visually Impaired Widow and 600 Students Plead with President Tinubu to Reverse Ban on ESM University Certificates
Visually Impaired Widow and 600 Students Plead with President Tinubu to Reverse Ban on ESM University Certificates....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
A visually impaired widow and over 600 students of ESM University in the Benin Republic, along with their parents, have appealed to President Bola Tinubu to reverse the recent ban on the institution’s certificates in Nigeria. The affected students, many of whom are on scholarships from the faith-based organization Omega Power Ministries (OPM), have expressed deep distress over the Federal Government’s decision, which they fear will jeopardize their future.
During a gathering in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, the students and parents shared their anguish with Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, the General Overseer of OPM, who has been their benefactor. Fighting back tears, they lamented the shock and devastation they felt upon hearing the news of the certificate ban.
Mrs. Josephine Hycienth, a visually impaired widow and one of the parents, voiced her concerns about the hardship she has endured since her husband’s death. She described the scholarship as a lifeline for her son, who is currently studying at ESM University. “Nobody cares about us since after my husband’s death. I want President Bola Tinubu to come to our aid. They should not cancel their education,” she pleaded. “If my son is allowed to come back home, nobody will assist in his education. I need the president to help.”
Moses Nicodemus, a 200-level Computer Science student at the university, shared his frustration over the situation. “I came back to Nigeria for my Industrial Training only to hear that my school is not accredited,” he said. “Our father [the cleric] has spent millions of naira on our education. We need help. We have tried to study to come out with good grades and certificates.”
Apostle Chinyere, who has invested significantly in the education of these students, expressed his dismay at the turn of events. He revealed that before enrolling the students at ESM University, he personally verified the institution’s credibility with the Federal Ministry of Education in Abuja. Based on the positive affirmation he received, he proceeded to fund the students’ education.
Chinyere appealed to the wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, urging her to intercede on behalf of the students. He highlighted the substantial financial investment made from church offerings and tithes, funds that he had dedicated to helping underprivileged individuals pursue education.
“Before I started this scholarship, I personally went to the Ministry of Education, Abuja, to verify if ESM is accredited. And all these were confirmed positive before I paid the first school fees,” Chinyere explained. “Only in the Benin Republic alone, I have spent more than N500m from offerings and tithes that come to the church. Do you want this money to go and they will come and start afresh? There are ways you can assist these students by strengthening the policy instead of putting more burdens.”
Chinyere concluded with a heartfelt plea to President Tinubu: “Please, President Bola Tinubu, I know you are a father. Look at these parents, look at these children, and reconsider. Let this policy be reversed so that these children can return to school. They are supposed to go back to school this September. Putting in money for them again from the beginning is not possible.”

“Your Anger Is Misplaced!”: Oby Ezekwesili Exposes The Danger Of Shifting Accountability.to Pastor Adeboye
Former Minister of Education, Obiageli Ezekwesili, has called on Nigerians to stop targeting the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Enoch Adeboye, with their frustrations regarding the state of the nation. She contends that the clergyman is being incorrectly singled out and is not to blame for Nigeria’s current difficulties.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Ezekwesili emphasized the following points in her statement:
-
She characterized Adeboye as a humble servant of God who has spent his life advocating for peace and national development.
-
While acknowledging that many Nigerians want religious leaders to be more vocal in demanding government accountability, she maintained that Adeboye has consistently offered prayers and spoken up for the nation.
-
She explained that long-standing issues—such as systemic corruption, economic hardship, and insecurity—have left Nigerians exhausted and deeply distrustful of politicians, institutions, and influential figures.
-
She warned that the country has a tendency to prioritize less significant issues rather than addressing urgent national crises.
-
Ezekwesili noted that while Adeboye typically responds to criticism with “dignified silence,” she felt compelled to speak publicly to refocus attention on the “urgency of this moment” and the core issue: the need for religious leaders to help rescue the nation from “ineffectual, corrupt, and selfish politicians”.

Heavy traffic congestion occurred along the corridors of the Supreme Court, the National Assembly, and the Federal Secretariat, leaving many commuters stranded and forcing others to find alternative routes.
The demonstration, organized by human rights activist and African Action Congress presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore alongside the Take It Back Movement, was planned to begin at Eagle Square before moving toward the Presidential Villa. The primary goal of the protest is to demand the immediate release of all victims kidnapped nationwide. Furthermore, organizers have called for President Bola Tinubu to either ensure the safety and release of the captives or resign, citing a perceived failure of the government to protect citizens. This protest reflects growing public outcry regarding the frequency of school attacks and kidnappings, as well as a broader demand for increased accountability and improved security across Nigeria.
