Tragedy Strikes Again: Mine Collapse Claims Lives of Two Siblings in Niger State
Tragedy Strikes Again: Mine Collapse Claims Lives of Two Siblings in Niger State....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
A tragic mine collapse in the Paikoro Local Government Area of Niger State has resulted in the deaths of two siblings, Zubairu Ibrahim, 20, and Sadiq Ibrahim, 25. This incident occurred just months after a previous mine collapse in Shiroro, which had already raised serious safety concerns about mining operations in the region.
The unfortunate event took place on Saturday in Kakaki village, where the brothers ventured to dig for solid minerals without informing their parents. As evening fell, their family grew concerned when the siblings did not return home for dinner and evening prayers. Initially, their father, Zubairu Ibrahim, believed they were out with friends. However, he soon learned the shocking truth that they had gone to the mining site.
After sending community members to search for the brothers, the family received devastating news. The searchers returned with the lifeless bodies of Zubairu and Sadiq, discovered buried beneath the collapsed soil at the mine.
The Niger State Ministry of Mineral Resources expressed its condolences during a visit to the grieving family. Dibie Maureen, a spokesperson for the ministry, revealed that the Permanent Secretary, Yunusa Nahauni, led a team that included ministry directors and representatives from the Miners Association and the Nigeria Union of Mines Workers.
During their visit, Nahauni emphasized that the tragic deaths could have been avoided if the community had adhered to the Governor’s order suspending mining activities in the state. He reiterated that this directive remains in effect and warned that any violations would result in legal repercussions.
“The death would have been avoidable if the community had abided by the Governor’s order suspending mining in the state,” Nahauni stated. “The ministry will continue to crack down on illegal mining operations. Anyone found violating these regulations will face legal consequences.”
In light of this incident, the ministry urged local communities to report any discoveries of mineral elements to receive appropriate guidance and avoid similar tragedies in the future.
Tensions arose when ministry officials attempted to visit the mine site to assess the damage. Villagers blocked their access, fearing the government team was there to extort money. Allegations surfaced that a prior visit by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps had resulted in the extortion of N25,000 from the deceased’s parents to fuel their vehicle.
Despite the distressing circumstances, the district head of Tutungo Paiko Local Government Area, Musa Abdullahi, expressed gratitude to the ministry officials for their visit and noted that they had been informed about the tragedy by the village head of Butu Kakaki.
Sadly, the siblings were buried before the ministry’s officials arrived to pay their condolences. The local community is left mourning the loss of two promising lives while grappling with the implications of illegal mining activities and the need for stricter enforcement of safety regulations.

ROYAL KNOCKOUT: Kwankwaso Tells Atiku To Abandon Politics And Focus On Traditional Title!
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) vice-presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, has advised former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar to drop his 2027 presidential ambitions, pointing to his health and age.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Speaking in Abuja on Monday during a gathering with members of the Fulani Farmers Association at his home, Kwankwaso—who is running alongside NDC presidential standard-bearer Peter Obi—suggested that Atiku should instead shift his focus toward his traditional duties as the Wazirin Adamawa.
Addressing the delegation in Hausa, Kwankwaso asked them to convey his message directly to Atiku, acknowledging him as an elder statesman.
“Go to the Wazirin of Adamawa’s house and tell him in Fulani that he needs to focus on his traditional title of Wazirin, given his age and health,” he stated.
He also assured that if he and Obi emerge victorious in the 2027 polls, they will ensure Atiku continues to receive proper backing.
“If Allah grants us success, we will take good care of him, especially since you all come from Adamawa. An apology should be offered to him,” Kwankwaso added.
Atiku, a long-standing figure in Nigerian politics, has run for the presidency multiple times, securing major party tickets in 2007, 2019, and 2023. Back in April, the former vice-president—who turns 81 in 2027—announced that the upcoming election cycle would mark his final bid for the presidency.

Osoba passed away on August 5, 2026, nearly two years after undergoing surgery for breast cancer in November 2024. Although a candlelight procession and artiste tribute night were held on August 11, and an initial burial date set for August 13, 2026, the family delayed the final rites to finalize arrangements and address outstanding matters.
Her death sparked online speculation connecting her passing to emotional distress instead of cancer, alongside allegations of mistreatment during her illness leveled against her fiancé, Itunu Onadeko, and his relatives. In response, the Celestial Church of Christ—where Onadeko functions as a shepherd—initiated an internal probe into the circumstances of her death. Osoba initially started out as a dancer before entering the acting industry in the early 2000s, gaining recognition for roles in films such as Gucci Girls (2012), Accident (2013), and Ifedolapo (2015).
