PDP’s Cool Response To Saraki’s Ex-Chief Of Staff Leaving Party: ‘No Cause For AlarmThe Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State has responded with indifference to the resignation of Gbenga Makanjuola, former Deputy Chief of Staff to Bukola Saraki, who announced his departure from the party.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Olusegun Adewara, PDP’s Publicity Secretary in Kwara State, stated that while the party is disappointed by Makanjuola’s decision, it remains unaffected. Makanjuola, who has served as a two-time House of Representatives member and was a Deputy Governorship candidate in 2019 and 2023, formally resigned in a letter dated July 30, 2024. The letter was addressed to the ward chairman in Irepodun local government area and copied to the state chairman, Hon. Babatunde Mohammed.

Makanjuola expressed gratitude to the PDP leadership at various levels but did not specify his reasons for leaving or his next political move.

The resignation comes shortly after Makanjuola’s acquittal by a federal high court in Abuja over a N3.5 billion money laundering and fraud case brought by the EFCC.

In response, Adewara told Daily Trust, “We are disappointed but not shaken by his departure. The PDP is focused on building the party around its people rather than individuals. We are unsure if he is leaving politics or joining another party, but if he is considering the APC, it would be surprising. The party has supported him with two deputy governorship tickets, and although we are disappointed, it does not alarm us. The party’s progress will continue.

“I Was Robbed!” — Portable Rejects Carter Efe’s Boxing Victory In Controversial Showdown.

Afrobeats singer Habeeb Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has reacted angrily after losing a celebrity boxing match to skit maker Carter Efe, alleging that the result was unfair.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

reports that Portable expressed his frustration during a live Instagram video shortly after the bout on Saturday morning, insisting that the fight was biased against him.

He claimed Carter Efe was unprofessional and accused the organisers of failing to properly count his punches during the match.

Portable said, “I was robbed. Carter Efe was not professional enough. He was strangling with his long hands and height. I threw him many punches, why didn’t you people count them? Any blow that I threw to him ought to count even if it meets him on the shoulder or hand. And to the organisers, I want my stream money amounting to about ₦200 million. Just give me my money before I cause trouble.

“They did ojoro for me. All of you are mad. Carter Efe was just holding my neck. I was punching him too but you people are not talking about that. They knew he is tall and has long hands but still put him in a boxing match with me.”

Despite his complaints, Portable said the loss did not matter to him, adding that the birth of his child was more important than any boxing title.

He said, “You can only buy a belt with money, but a child cannot be bought. You people cheated. They can’t pay the money amounting to the sum of N23 billion. I thought I was going to dance with my belt but I ended up with my new baby.

“My wife just gave birth to a bouncing baby boy. I value that more than a belt. You can buy the belt but not my child.”

Carter Efe Claims Victory By Unanimous Decision

Portable’s reaction followed Carter Efe’s unanimous decision victory at the Chaos in the Ring 4 event held at Balmoral Hall in Lagos.

All three judges scored the bout 27–30 in favour of Carter Efe, bringing Portable’s celebrity boxing run to an end.

Before the fight, Portable had confidently predicted victory, saying he would claim his third belt after previous wins over Charles Okocha and Speed Darlington.

“I will use you to collect my third belt,” he had boasted. “Charles Okocha was bigger than you, Speed Darlington was bigger than you, and I beat them. I will beat you now.”

However, Carter Efe dismissed the challenge ahead of the fight, responding, “One punch and you fall.”

During the match, Carter Efe used his height and reach advantage to dominate the three-round contest, landing cleaner shots and controlling the tempo throughout.

The win secured Carter Efe the new celebrity boxing championship title.

Shockwaves In Opposition As ADC Leader Claims Peter Obi Will Dump ADC For NDC Next Week.

Published

Some top figures within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) are reportedly preparing to defect to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Former Labour Party presidential candidate in 2023, Peter Obi, is said to be a key figure in the anticipated political realignment.

Sources close to the former Anambra State governor, who spoke with Punch, linked the development to rising dissatisfaction within the ADC’s internal structure and lingering uncertainty following a recent Supreme Court ruling on the party’s leadership dispute.

The Supreme Court had on Thursday set aside an earlier injunction that removed David Mark and Rauf Aregbesola as National Chairman and National Secretary of the ADC respectively. However, it did not resolve the substantive leadership issue, instead returning the case to the Federal High Court for further proceedings.

While some party members described the ruling as temporary relief, insiders say it has increased tension within coalition circles ahead of the 2027 elections, with concerns that ongoing litigation could destabilize the party at a critical political stage.

Obi Loyalists Raise Concerns Over Zoning And Party Structure

Party insiders also claim that internal disagreements, including tensions with supporters of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, have influenced Obi’s reconsideration of his political platform.

One source said Obi and his allies are concerned that the ADC structure appears skewed in favour of a particular aspirant and that the party is unwilling to zone its presidential ticket to the South.

According to the source, these concerns have raised doubts about the credibility of any potential primary election within the party.

The source further added that ongoing legal disputes and internal crises have made the ADC less viable for Obi’s presidential ambition.

It was also disclosed that Obi has begun consultations with the NDC, which reportedly offered him an uncontested presidential ticket.

The source claimed, “All things being equal, in a couple of days, between now and next week, he is expected to dump the ADC for the NDC.”

Another aide confirmed that Obi is expected to publicly declare his next political move in the coming days, stating that an official announcement will soon be made to Nigerians.
