NANS asserts that Tunji-Ojo should face scrutiny over his alleged involvement in a N438.1 million consultancy contract with the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation. The call for investigation comes amidst claims that a company purportedly owned by Tunji-Ojo, New Planet Project Limited, received N438.1 million for consultancy services from Edu’s ministry.

In a statement signed by NANS President Pedro Obi on Tuesday, the student association expressed concern over the financial mismanagement revealed within the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs. The suspension of Betta Edu, who is accused of depositing N585 million of Federal Government funds into a personal account, has sparked heightened scrutiny.

Tunji-Ojo, acknowledging his connection to the company, disclosed on a TV program that he resigned in 2019 when he contested for the House of Representatives.

He described the report as shocking and clarified that although he remains a shareholder, he is not involved in the day-to-day operations of the business since his resignation.

However, NANS President Pedro Obi insists that Tunji-Ojo’s role in the N438.1 million consultancy fee should also undergo thorough investigation.

The association calls on President Tinubu to order an extensive probe into the financial transactions supervised by the suspended Minister, Betta Edu. Furthermore, NANS emphasizes that any individuals found culpable must face prosecution in accordance with the laws of the land.

The statement issued by NANS emphasizes the need for transparency and accountability in the handling of public funds, urging a comprehensive investigation to uncover the details of expenditures under Betta Edu’s supervision.
