The appeals filed by Senator Ovie Omo-Agege of the All Progressive Congress (APC), as well as Social Democratic Party (SDP) candidate Mr. Kenneth Gbaji and Labour Party (LP) candidate Ken Pela, in connection with the governorship poll held on March 18, have encountered a delay in judgment from the Supreme Court….CONTINUE READING....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

A five-member panel at the apex court, led by Justice Inyang Okoro, opted to postpone the judgment following the conclusion of the final briefs of argument presented by all parties involved.

The appellants jointly sought to overturn the November 24 decision of the Court of Appeal in Lagos State, which had dismissed their case for lack of merit.

The Court of Appeal had affirmed Oborevwori of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the legitimate winner. Additionally, the appellants challenged a prior ruling by the Delta State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in Asaba, which had upheld Oborevwori’s election on September 29.

Senator Omo-Agege, the immediate past Deputy President of the Senate, argued that the election deviated from the provisions of the Electoral Act, citing irregularities in the recording and serial numbering of results at certain polling units.

Gbaji of the SDP called for the declaration of Governor Oborevwori’s ineligibility, while LP’s Pela urged the annulment of the entire election with the organization of a new one.

The Supreme Court panel has communicated that it will announce the judgment date to all concerned parties.

This legal dispute has gained significant public attention since the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Oborevwori of the PDP as the winner with 360,234 votes, surpassing Omo-Agege of the APC, who secured 240,229 votes.

“It’s Peter Obi Or Nothing”: Pat Utomi Draws A Red Line For 2027 Presidential Race.

Published

on

Political economist and former presidential candidate, Professor Pat Utomi, is prioritizing the “Big Tent” initiative as a vehicle for developing a comprehensive national manifesto and identifying capable leadership ahead of the 2027 elections. Speaking on Arise TV regarding emerging political realignments, Utomi emphasized that the initiative’s primary goal is to endorse competent, reform-minded candidates who are committed to national development, regardless of their specific political party affiliation.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Utomi expressed frustration with Nigeria’s tendency to sideline talented individuals in favor of established political figures who claim experience but often lack a history of meaningful contribution. He challenged the common political narrative, arguing that many long-serving politicians are merely repeating limited experience rather than driving national progress. According to Utomi, this cycle of recycling the same political actors suppresses new talent and stifles the country’s development, a pattern he insists must be broken.

Furthermore, Utomi advocated for stricter oversight of political defections to enhance accountability. He called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to take a more decisive stand against the frequent switching of parties by politicians, which he described as an impediment to governance and a practice that prioritizes personal interest over the national good.

Adebayo Adelabu, former Minister of Power and an All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Oyo State, has asserted that the party has not yet officially named its candidate for the 2027 election. In a statement released on Monday, Adelabu called on APC members across the state to exercise patience and await a formal announcement from the party’s national leadership regarding the recent primaries.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Adelabu cautioned party members against believing reports circulating on social media and other unofficial channels that suggest a consensus candidate has been selected for the governorship and other elective roles. This clarification comes amid reports from some quarters claiming that Senator Sarafadeen Alli emerged as the winner and consensus candidate following the primaries. Furthermore, Oyo APC Chairman Moses Adeyemo reportedly named Alli as the candidate after a meeting with President Bola Tinubu in Lagos last weekend.

Authority of the National Headquarters Adelabu, who resigned from his ministerial position on April 30, 2026, to participate in the primaries alongside eight other aspirants, emphasized that state-level actors lack the authority to declare a final result. He insisted that such declarations can only be made by the APC national headquarters.

  • Adelabu stated that premature claims of victory are intended to mislead the public and create confusion among party supporters.

  • He warned that such actions undermine party discipline, fairness, and the principles of internal democracy.

  • He advised party members to treat any circulated lists of candidates with extreme caution until official confirmation is provided by the national leadership.
