2027 Presidency: Timi Frank Seeks Trump’s Intervention Over Alleged Plot Against Atiku.

Former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Timi Frank, has appealed to United States President Donald Trump and the international community to intervene over alleged threats to the life of African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Frank made the appeal in an open letter addressed to Trump and other international leaders on Monday, expressing concern over alleged plans to intimidate, arrest, detain or otherwise frustrate Atiku’s participation in the 2027 electoral process.

He urged the United States, the United Nations, African Union (AU), Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), European Union (EU) and the United Kingdom to engage the Nigerian government and seek credible assurances regarding the safety of opposition leaders.

According to Frank, the allegations surrounding Atiku’s safety and the possible use of state institutions against opposition figures require urgent and independent investigation.

“These allegations must be independently and urgently investigated. Given their gravity, however, they cannot be dismissed or ignored until it is too late to prevent harm,” he said.

Frank warned that using law enforcement and security agencies to frustrate opposition candidates could undermine democratic participation and weaken public confidence in Nigeria’s institutions.

He maintained that protecting opposition politicians was a fundamental responsibility of any democratic government rather than a privilege granted at the discretion of those in power.

“The protection of political opposition is not a favour that any government grants at its discretion. It is a fundamental obligation of every democratic state,” he stated.

The former APC spokesman also expressed concern over allegations that the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) could be used to initiate proceedings against Atiku in a manner that might result in his arrest and prolonged detention during the election campaign.

However, Frank clarified that his position was not an attempt to shield political leaders from legitimate investigations. Instead, he insisted that law enforcement agencies must operate independently and without political interference.

“The concern is not that Atiku Abubakar should be placed above the law. The concern is that the law must never be placed at the service of political persecution,” he said.

He called on the Federal Government to ensure that any investigation involving opposition figures was supported by credible evidence and conducted in line with due process.

Frank added that the credibility of Nigeria’s anti-corruption institutions depended on their ability to demonstrate fairness and impartiality in handling cases involving politicians across party lines.

“If the government expects Nigerians to trust its anti-corruption institutions, those institutions must demonstrate that justice is neither partisan nor selective,” he said.

Describing Atiku as one of Nigeria’s most prominent opposition figures, Frank argued that the former vice president’s criticism of government policies and participation in discussions on governance and accountability were legitimate aspects of democracy.

He stressed that political disagreements should be resolved through open debate and lawful processes rather than intimidation or threats.

“The test of Nigeria’s democracy is not whether the government protects its allies, but whether it protects the rights of those who challenge it,” he added.

Frank also raised concerns about the credibility of the 2027 general elections, urging the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), security agencies and the judiciary to maintain neutrality in the discharge of their responsibilities.

He called for independent investigations into allegations of restrictions on opposition campaigns, political intimidation and interference with electoral institutions before such issues escalate into a broader crisis.

The former APC chieftain further urged the international community to support credible and independent election observation missions in Nigeria, with particular attention to political violence, voter intimidation, campaign restrictions, the conduct of security agencies and transparency in the electoral process.

According to him, international partners should not wait until a major political crisis occurs before taking preventive measures.

“Preventive diplomacy is not merely desirable; it is a responsibility,” he said.

Frank emphasised that his appeal to Trump and other world leaders was not intended to influence the choice of Nigeria’s next president but to ensure that citizens could freely decide their political future without fear or coercion.

“I am not asking the United States or any foreign government to determine who should govern Nigeria. That decision belongs exclusively to the Nigerian people.

“I am asking the international community to help ensure that Nigerians retain the freedom to make that decision without fear, coercion, or unlawful interference,” he stated.

He urged the Federal Government to provide credible assurances regarding the safety of Atiku and other opposition figures, while calling on international partners to intensify diplomatic engagement ahead of the elections.

Frank maintained that protecting Atiku’s life and liberty, ensuring the safety of opposition leaders and safeguarding the integrity of the 2027 general elections should be treated as urgent democratic priorities.

“The protection of Atiku Abubakar’s life and liberty, the safety of all opposition leaders, and the integrity of Nigeria’s 2027 elections must be treated as urgent democratic priorities,” he said.

He concluded by warning that the international community must act before any alleged threats develop into a tragedy.

“The world must not wait for a tragedy before it acts,” he added.

2027 Presidency: Alake Unveils Tinubu’s Hidden Strategy Behind 12-State Campaign Plan.

The spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council, Dele Alake, has explained that President Bola Tinubu’s decision to campaign physically in only 12 states ahead of the 2027 general elections was a strategic move.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking in an interview with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Alake said the President was determined not to neglect his official responsibilities in order to campaign across the country.

He argued that the 12 states selected for the campaign were strategically important and could play a decisive role in determining the outcome of the election.

Alake maintained that Tinubu should be commended for prioritising governance while making arrangements for his re-election campaign.

He also criticised sections of the media for portraying the President’s decision negatively, insisting that the limited number of campaign stops had nothing to do with his stamina or capacity.

According to Alake, Tinubu’s responsibilities as a sitting president make it difficult for him to tour every part of the country, unlike in 2023, when he contested the presidency without holding the office.

He said, “The President said categorically at the inauguration of the campaign council a few days ago that we should excuse him, that he is not going to abandon governance for campaigning.

“The President has a lot on his plate; honestly, I sympathise with him most times when I’m with him, the weight, the enormity. And I admire him a lot because of his resilience; his stamina is unparalleled.”

Alake explained that Tinubu had more flexibility during the 2023 presidential election because he was not yet the country’s leader.

He added, “Asiwaju was not a sitting president in 2023, so he could afford the time to go to every corner of the nation, but when you are a sitting president with so much work to do, no, you cannot.

“And what has he done? He has chosen some zonal pivotal states to visit. And if you are to do a serious empirical verification of those zones and states, you will find out that those places he’s chosen to go are actually election deciders.

“So there is no issue there at all, he should be commended for that. He is not going to abandon governance for campaigning.”

Alake’s remarks come as the APC prepares for the 2027 general elections, with the party balancing its campaign activities against Tinubu’s responsibilities as President.

‘Nobody Is Perfect, I Am Not A Saint’ – Peter Obi Speaks Out.

The presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, has declared that although he is not a saint, he accomplished what he believes no other governor in Nigeria has achieved during his tenure.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Obi made the statement during a town hall meeting with his supporters in the United Kingdom, where he urged Nigerians to elect leaders with proven records of performance ahead of the 2027 general election.

The former Anambra State governor expressed concern over the increasing economic hardship in the country, insisting that Nigerians should prioritise productivity and competence when choosing their next president.

He also appealed to Nigerians living abroad to encourage their relatives back home, particularly those who depend on them financially, to support candidates with credible records of performance.

Obi said, “You have people at home in Nigeria today who are begging you for money. Tell them no! Let’s put somebody who has proven to be productive.”

Highlighting his record in office, the former governor said he left savings behind after completing his tenure, describing it as evidence of responsible leadership and prudent management of public resources.

He added that Nigeria’s journey towards meaningful change could begin with the election of leaders who are less corrupt.

“I’m not saying I’m a saint, but I saved money. No governor has done it. Let’s start with this one that is less corrupt. That’s how other countries change,” Obi stated.

The NDC presidential candidate reiterated his call for a new Nigeria founded on accountability, the fight against corruption and the emergence of competent leaders capable of addressing the country’s challenges.

According to him, the country needs leaders with the capacity, character, compassion and commitment to unite Nigerians, improve security and shift the economy from consumption to production.

“Enough of all this. We need to achieve our collective purpose of building a New Nigeria that works for all, which is centred on tackling corruption and electing competent leaders with capacity, character, compassion and commitment to unite, secure, and move the nation from consumption to production,” Obi said.

2027 Elections: Rufai Reveals Growing Discontent With Tinubu In The North.

Published

on

Arise Television presenter Rufai Oseni has claimed that voters in Northern Nigeria are dissatisfied with President Bola Tinubu’s administration, warning that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) could face an unexpected outcome in the 2027 general elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Oseni made the remarks on Monday while analysing political developments ahead of the elections on Arise Television’s Morning Show.

The broadcaster cautioned the ruling party against interpreting the public displays of support enjoyed by some politicians in the North as evidence of widespread approval for the Federal Government.

According to him, financial handouts and enthusiastic declarations of support may not necessarily translate into votes when Nigerians head to the polls.

Oseni warned that politicians could be misled by the reactions they receive from crowds, stressing that the outcome of the 2027 elections might differ from their expectations.

“Do not deceive yourself, you see, politicians are the most delusional and the most optimistic people on earth.

“Because you are giving tonnes of people money in the north they are shouting your name, they are saying everything is well. Elections will shock you. Do not deceive yourself.

“The north is not happy with this administration,” he said.

The journalist acknowledged that his assessment could be criticised as an overgeneralisation, explaining that his position was based on his perception of public sentiment across the region rather than a single scientific study.

He maintained that his comments reflected his efforts to gauge the mood of the people and assess the political developments unfolding in Northern Nigeria.

“I know a lot of people will come back at me and say that’s a fallacy of hasty generalisation.

“But it’s an opinion gathering. It’s in feeling the pulse of the people in the north. It’s feeling the trajectory of what is happening in the north,” Oseni stated.

He also referenced public sentiment analysis as one of the factors informing his assessment of the region’s political climate.

Beyond the reported dissatisfaction with Tinubu’s government, Oseni questioned whether governors who defected to the APC following the crisis within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would demonstrate unwavering commitment to the ruling party ahead of the 2027 elections.

According to him, some of the governors may have joined the APC because of the divisions and instability within their former party rather than a genuine commitment to the ruling party’s political agenda.

Oseni suggested that the circumstances surrounding their defections could create uncertainty about their loyalty and willingness to fully support the APC during the forthcoming elections.

“Will the APC be able to trust the complete commitments of the governors that came to the fold of the APC because of the disintegration of the PDP? That’s another factor,” he asked.

He described the situation as an unusual political arrangement, arguing that some of the governors might not have defected if the PDP had remained united and stable.

“You see, it’s a strange marriage arrangement. They just had to come to the APC, not because if they had a choice, if their own party was not disintegrated, or had not gone through the metamorphosis, do you think they’re going to come?

“So, are they going to be able to give their full commitment and just sweep everything off like that? It’s going to be interesting,” he added.

Oseni’s comments come amid growing political manoeuvring and realignments among major parties as preparations gather pace for the 2027 general elections.
