The Nigerian leader revealed this information on Monday during the signing ceremony of the 2024 appropriation bill into law at the State House in Abuja.
The President also affirmed that the budget, named “Renewed Hope,” prioritizes a reduction in recurrent expenditure while increasing capital expenditure.
He stated, “One of the key focuses of the recently passed bill is the provision of N100 billion for the school feeding program.
I believe this initiative will serve as a motivator to promote school enrollment and address malnutrition among students.”
Additionally, the President announced plans to engage with local government entities at sub-national levels for collaborative efforts in implementing a comprehensive program.
In December, Tinubu had directed the reinstatement of the school feeding program, transferring its oversight from the Humanitarian Ministry to the Education Ministry.
Formerly halted during the tenure of former President Muhammadu Buhari, the program will now fall under the purview of the Education Ministry.
Its objectives extend beyond providing nutritious meals to students, aiming to actively promote attendance and enhance the overall learning experience.
