The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, has expressed support for President Bola Tinubu’s approval of N37 billion for the ongoing Kano–Gwarzo–Dayi road project in the 2026 budget.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Senator Barau, who represents Kano North Senatorial District, made this known while reacting to a motion moved by Senator Kamorudeen Olalere Oyewumi of the Accord Party (Osun) on the reconstruction of the Ibadan–Ikire–Ife–Ilesa road. He noted that the administration’s road projects are spread across various parts of the country.

The Federal Government had earlier flagged off the construction of the dual carriageway from Kano to Dayi in Katsina State on June 11, 2021. The approximately 100-kilometre Kano–Gwarzo–Dayi road is currently being upgraded from a single lane to a dual carriageway to improve transportation and enhance the movement of agricultural produce from rural communities to markets in neighbouring states.

Barau also commended the progress of work on the Abuja–Kaduna road, which he recently travelled through, describing the development as encouraging.

He praised Senator Oyewumi, despite being an opposition lawmaker, for acknowledging President Tinubu’s efforts in infrastructure delivery in Osun, Oyo, and Ekiti States, adding that such bipartisan recognition should be emulated.

According to him, “The president is doing well. In my own region, the Kano–Dayi road has received N37 billion for continued work despite global economic constraints. We commend Mr President for this.”

He further highlighted ongoing road projects such as the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano expressway and the Lagos–Calabar coastal highway, stating that construction work is ongoing nationwide.

Barau concluded by commending the President for his efforts in road infrastructure development across the country, describing it as worthy of appreciation and support.

Shock In PDP As Bala Mohammed Set To Announce Exit Within Days.

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has stated that he will announce his decision on leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) within the next one week.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

He said he has already begun consultations with other political parties, following the ongoing crisis in the PDP and the nullification of the party’s Ibadan national convention.

Mohammed made the disclosure during an interview with BBC Hausa, days after the Supreme Court annulled the PDP convention held in Ibadan, Oyo State.

He said his camp has accepted the court ruling as an act of divine will, noting that it should not be seen as a total victory or defeat for any side.

According to him, “As democrats and committed PDP members who respect the rule of law, we accept the judgment as the will of Allah. It is neither a total defeat for us nor a complete victory for the other side.

“The efforts we made to defend the rights of our supporters and uphold democracy are clear. While our Ibadan convention was nullified, their leadership was also set aside.

“In line with the party’s constitution, the Board of Trustees will take charge of affairs pending the emergence of an interim leadership, since the court has invalidated the current structure.”

The governor had earlier received a delegation from the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, at the Bauchi Government House.

The delegation reportedly visited on behalf of ADC National Chairman, Senator David Mark, to persuade him to join the party, with Mohammed allegedly describing the ADC as a possible alternative platform.

He has also met with President Bola Tinubu and other political leaders, while the All Progressives Congress (APC) delegation led by its National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, also visited Bauchi for talks that later collapsed over disagreements on party structure control.

Wike Blamed For PDP Crisis

Mohammed accused the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, of deepening divisions within the PDP and weakening the party from within.

He said, “We find ourselves in a difficult situation. Nyesom Wike and many of his associates are with the APC. His presence in the PDP was aimed at frustrating the party, and to some extent, that has happened. At the same time, we ensured he did not take full control.

“Given the limited time, we have begun consultations with other political parties where our people can secure tickets and contest. We do not have the time to form an interim leadership and obtain INEC approval within a few days.

“The focus now is to identify a stable platform for our candidates to participate in the coming elections.”

He further alleged that there were efforts to impose a sole presidential candidate ahead of the elections, warning that such a move would undermine democracy.

Mohammed said while he remains loyal to the PDP, the current situation has forced his camp to explore other options.

“With only a few days left, we are working to conclude discussions on where to move… Within a week, we will make our position known in Bauchi,” he said.

He also appealed to his supporters to remain calm, assuring aspirants that they would be given opportunities to contest under whichever platform is eventually chosen.

Presidential Ambition And Alliances

The governor ruled out a presidential bid, explaining that the PDP had already zoned the presidency to the South.

Instead, he said he would contest the Bauchi South senatorial seat.

On possible political alliances, Mohammed confirmed ongoing consultations with key opposition figures, including Rabiu Kwankwaso and Peter Obi.

“We are in talks with Rabiu Kwankwaso and Peter Obi. There are calls for the opposition to unite under one platform, but that is not easy. Political realities differ across states and regions, as do the needs of the people,” he added.

Political Realignment? Obi And Kwankwaso Supporters Converge In Abuja.

Supporters of former Anambra State Governor, Peter Obi, and former Kano State Governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, are scheduled to hold a unity summit in Abuja today.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The event, themed “One Voice, One Vision: In Unity We Win,” is being organised by the OK Movement, a group advocating for a possible Obi–Kwankwaso political partnership ahead of the 2027 general elections.

A flyer shared on by the group on Friday indicated that eight speakers will feature at the summit.

The lineup includes New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) chieftain Buba Galadima, activist Aisha Yesufu, and Isaac Fayose, brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose.

Others billed to speak are Moses Paul, a former African Democratic Congress (ADC) chairmanship candidate, and Adebayo Adefolaseye, the South-West coordinator of the OK Movement.

As of report time, about 428 participants had reportedly registered to attend the gathering.

The summit comes amid rising political speculation that Obi and Kwankwaso may be considering a move from the ADC to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

On Friday night, Kwankwasiyya movement spokesperson Habibu Mohammed stated that both politicians were expected to conclude arrangements for the defection next week.

He said the decision followed unanimous approval by key stakeholders and added that discussions with the NDC were approximately 90 percent complete, with only minor details remaining.

According to him, the two politicians, along with other associates, could formally join the NDC as early as Monday or Tuesday.

“I believe him, Peter Obi, and some others will be joining the NDC,” Mohammed said.

The ongoing leadership crisis within the ADC has been linked to the reported political realignment.

On Thursday, the Supreme Court set aside an earlier order maintaining the status quo in the ADC leadership dispute and referred the case back to the Federal High Court for further hearing, effectively prolonging the uncertainty.

The OK Movement was originally launched in April by supporters of Obi and Kwankwaso to rally backing for a joint 2027 presidential ticket.
