Nigerian Govt Releases List Of 48 Terrorism Financiers.

The Federal Government has released an updated list of 48 individuals and organisations allegedly linked to terrorism financing and sponsorship in Nigeria.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The list was published on Saturday, April 11, 2026, by the Nigeria Sanctions Committee (NIGSAC) via its official website.

The development comes amid the ongoing large-scale prosecution of terrorism suspects by the Federal Government, particularly those accused of supporting insurgent activities in the North-East.

The mass trial began on Tuesday at the Federal High Court in Abuja, where 227 suspects were arraigned before 10 judges.

Security was heavily tightened during the proceedings, with the accused persons escorted to court under armed convoy protection involving military, police, and intelligence operatives.

So far, five defendants have been convicted and sentenced to prison terms ranging from seven to 20 years after pleading guilty to offences including supplying food, selling livestock, and providing intelligence to terrorist groups.

The Attorney General of the Federation, Lateef Fagbemi, said the scale of the trial reflects the government’s resolve to combat terrorism-related crimes while ensuring due process is followed.

“The federal government is committed to ensuring that due process is followed while bringing those involved in terrorism to justice,” he said.

One of the notable convictions was that of Babagana Habeeb, a former senatorial candidate in Borno State, who was sentenced to 10 years in prison for selling petrol to Boko Haram insurgents.

Habeeb was convicted on Friday after pleading guilty to a single-count charge of aiding and abetting terrorism filed by the Federal Government.

The Maiduguri-based fuel dealer admitted supplying petroleum products to insurgents operating in the North-East, although he claimed the transactions may have been carried out by his station attendants.

During sentencing, Habeeb pleaded for mercy, telling the court he had been in detention for over a decade and was a father of six with two wives.

However, prosecution counsel David Kaswe opposed leniency, arguing that such support enabled insurgents to carry out attacks that led to deaths and displacement of civilians.

Kaswe urged the court to impose a 20-year sentence, stating that fuel supplies were critical to insurgents’ mobility and operations.

In his judgment, Justice Peter Lifu ruled that there was no evidence showing Habeeb was a member of a terrorist group or had undergone weapons training, noting that the charge was limited to fuel supply to insurgents.

The court also acknowledged the defendant’s claim of prolonged detention, which was not disputed by the prosecution.

Justice Lifu subsequently sentenced him to 10 years in prison, effective from the date of arrest, and ordered that he be released upon completion of his term, with a recommendation for rehabilitation.

2027: Gov Sule Sparks Buzz, Reveals Who He Wants As Nasarawa’s Next Governor.

Published

on

Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has openly backed Aliyu Wadada as his preferred governorship candidate under the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Sule made this known during a meeting with political appointees at the Government House in Lafia, a move seen as an early signal of political succession plans in the state.

Wadada, who currently represents Nasarawa West in the 10th Senate, recently dumped the Social Democratic Party for the APC, further fuelling speculations about his governorship ambition.

The governor also faulted public officials who parade routine duties like salary payments, road construction and provision of basic amenities as landmark achievements.

“‘It Is All About Money’ — Sarumi Aliyu Blames Fubara-Wike Clash On Political Overreach”.

Speaking on Wednesday at the 59th inaugural lecture of Nasarawa State University, Sule said governance should go beyond basic responsibilities and focus on policies that directly improve people’s lives.

According to him, leaders must think beyond conventional projects and pursue solutions that bring lasting impact to citizens.

Using his administration as an example, Sule recalled how frequent fire outbreaks at a major market used to force the government into repeated relief payouts to traders.

He said rather than continuing temporary interventions, his government chose to build a modern market to permanently tackle the problem, adding that there has been no report of another fire incident since the reconstruction.

Sule also highlighted the construction of a bridge in Auta near Keffi, which he said has greatly reduced years of devastating flooding in the area.

At the event, Ike Neliaku praised Sule’s development strides, especially road and infrastructure projects across key parts of the state.

Also speaking, Emmanuel Dandaura stressed the need for institutions to align communication with performance, warning that failure to do so could erode public trust.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Sultan’s media team, through Prince Bashir Adefaka, warned an American commentator identified as Mac Arnold to stop spreading what it described as baseless and defamatory claims.

According to the Sultan’s media team, the claims suggesting any link between the traditional ruler and violence or terrorism are misleading and unsupported by credible evidence.

It stressed that the Sultan remains a respected religious and national leader who has consistently promoted peace, interfaith harmony, and national unity both in Nigeria and internationally.

The statement urged members of the public and the global community to verify information from reliable sources and avoid amplifying divisive content that could inflame tensions.
