DR Congo Make Historic Return to FIFA World Cup With Extra-Time Victory Over Jamaica....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The Democratic Republic of Congo booked a historic return to the FIFA World Cup after Axel Tuanzebe scored a dramatic extra-time winner, giving them a 1-0 victory over Jamaica in their intercontinental play-off in Guadalajara, Mexico.

The decisive moment came in the 100th minute when Brian Cipenga’s inswinging corner deflected off a defender and fell to Tuanzebe, who bundled the ball into the net. A brief VAR check for handball delayed celebrations before the goal was confirmed.

Earlier in the match, Cedric Bakambu had two goals ruled out for offside, while Jamaica struggled to create clear opportunities, sending the game into extra time.

The win marks DR Congo’s first World Cup appearance in 52 years and completes the 48-team line-up for the expanded 2026 tournament across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. DR Congo will start their campaign in Group K against Portugal in Houston on June 17, 2026, followed by matches against Colombia and Uzbekistan.
