Security analyst Zagazola Makama reported on X that the device was spotted around 9am on April 17 by an Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and route-clearing team deployed from a nearby Forward Operating Base.

Sources said the explosive was found at the edge of the town’s exit gate, sparking concern over possible risk to civilians and road users in the area.

The EOD team later carried out a controlled detonation, and the operation was completed without any incident. The area was also swept to ensure no additional explosives were present.

Preliminary reports suggest the device may have been planted by suspected insurgents before troops were deployed to secure the location.

While the general security situation in the area remains calm, sources note that it is still unpredictable, as military operations continue to secure communities and major routes.
