Ochalla gave the charge during an unscheduled visit to the Command Headquarters in Owerri, where she inspected key operational units, including the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and other critical facilities.

According to the Command’s spokesperson, Henry Okoye, the visit aligns with the vision of the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwanu DISU, aimed at building a more professional, accountable, and human-rights-compliant police force, while strengthening the fight against kidnapping and violent crimes.

The DIG also engaged with some suspects in custody and reviewed their cases to ensure that no individual is unlawfully detained or held beyond legally approved limits.

She emphasized that strict adherence to the rule of law and protection of human rights remain non-negotiable, warning officers to follow due process in arrests, investigations, and detentions.

In his briefing, the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Audu Garba Bosso, outlined ongoing efforts to curb violent crime and enforce discipline within the command.

He also disclosed that seven officers were recently dismissed for misconduct involving human rights violations, reaffirming the command’s zero tolerance for extortion, corruption, and abuse of office.

Bosso restated the command’s commitment to protecting lives and property, while encouraging residents to support policing efforts by providing credible and timely information through official channels.
