Iyabo Obasanjo, daughter of former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo, has affirmed that she is not joining the Ogun State governorship race to step aside for any other candidate.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

She stated that she is fully prepared and will exhaust every political effort to secure the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket. Obasanjo made this declaration during a media briefing at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta on Saturday.

According to her, Ogun State has the opportunity to make history by electing Nigeria’s first female governor in 2027. She also refuted claims that she is disconnected from grassroots communities, emphasizing that her political strength lies in her close ties with local constituents. She cited her hands-on campaign during her Senate bid, which included visits to remote villages across the district.

“So, I’m coming out, consulting across the state, and then people say I won’t compete? That’s not possible. I will compete with everyone in the field and will do everything within my power to win the party ticket,” Obasanjo said.

She added, “When I campaigned for the Senate, I visited every remote village in Ogun Central Senatorial District. Ask those communities who has been there before—they will mention me. So when people claim I’m not connected to the grassroots, that is actually where my political strength lies.”

Addressing questions about her long hiatus and return to politics, Obasanjo explained that her time overseas allowed her to study governance in other cultures, including municipal administration and taxation systems. She emphasized that having an established career before entering politics enables her to view public service as an opportunity to promote development rather than as a permanent job.

Barely a year after its inauguration in Akwa Ibom State, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has been plunged into a deep factional crisis.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Multiple factions are now locked in a struggle for control of the party, leaving members uncertain about the legitimate leadership structure.

One faction is led by John Akpanudodehe, a former National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), while another is headed by the embattled state chairman, Dick Duke.

Although the leader of a third faction could not be immediately confirmed, findings indicate that another group also exists within the party.

Sources further suggest that the Akpanudodehe-led faction is seeking to remove the current chairman through a recently held congress that has sparked controversy.

In response, Dick Duke convened a stakeholders’ meeting over the weekend, where he rejected the legitimacy of the said congress.

He said the party had formally written to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to distance itself from the exercise, citing a subsisting court order.

According to him, his tenure as state chairman is still valid until May, and any congress conducted before then would be unlawful.

Duke added that the party would only proceed with proper congresses after the expiration of his tenure and the resolution of legal issues, in line with due process.
