He made this remark during the commissioning of the Oyan Divisional Police Headquarters on Saturday in Oyan town, Odo-Otin Local Government Area of Osun State. The project, sponsored by the Nigeria Police and facilitated by AIG Kayode Aderanti (rtd), began in June 2023 and was completed in August 2024.
Represented at the event by the Osun State Police Commissioner, CP Ibrahim Gotan, IGP Disu said the new divisional headquarters is aimed at bringing policing closer to the people. He noted that it will enhance response times, improve intelligence gathering, strengthen crime prevention, and foster better collaboration between the police and local communities.
“This occasion marks another significant milestone in the Nigeria Police Force’s ongoing efforts to strengthen security architecture, enhance operational efficiency, and deepen community policing across Osun State,” Disu said.
“The commissioning of this divisional headquarters is more than just unveiling a building. It reinforces our commitment to protecting lives and property. It brings policing closer to the people, improves response times, strengthens intelligence, and encourages cooperation between the police and the communities of Oyan and its surroundings,” he added.
The IGP reminded residents that security is a collective responsibility and urged them to support, protect, and partner with the Nigeria Police. He also called on officers to uphold professionalism, integrity, discipline, and respect for human rights.
“The image of the Command rests in your hands. The Osun State Command remains resolute in combating all forms of crime and criminality. We will continue to deploy modern strategies, intelligence-led operations, and community partnerships to keep Osun State peaceful and secure,” Disu emphasized.
Speaking at the event, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke pledged to provide operational vehicles and Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs) to strengthen security across the state. He described the commissioning as a landmark in public-private partnerships for state security.
“Nigeria faces serious security challenges, and Osun is surrounded by potential threats. Public-private partnerships are essential in addressing these challenges,” Governor Adeleke said. He also revealed plans to launch a Security Trust Fund in March, noting that the enabling law has been passed by the State House of Assembly.
“The Security Trust Fund will support local security initiatives and further strengthen community safety. Securing our communities is a collective responsibility,” he added.
Olayan of Oyan, Oba Kilani Adeyeye, thanked the Nigeria Police and project facilitator AIG Kayode Aderanti (rtd) for their contributions. Aderanti also assured the immediate deployment of qualified personnel to ensure effective service delivery at the new headquarters.

Gbenjo’s warning comes amid growing controversy surrounding the late singer’s death and burial arrangements, with reports of disagreements among members of his family.
The gospel singer spoke on Tuesday during a night of tributes held in honour of Toluwanisings in Ibadan, Oyo State. He warned against allowing the situation to degenerate into a controversy similar to the one that followed the death of Nigerian singer Mohbad.
Describing the deceased as a devoted Christian and a genuine servant of God, Gbenjo said Toluwanisings was passionate about his faith and had a good relationship with people.
He urged the public to stop fuelling unnecessary controversy over the late singer’s death, particularly through social media platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.
“You can never see Toluwani in the midst of jobless people. He had a good heart. He was a friend to everybody. He served the Lord with all his heart. Don’t turn Toluwani into Mohbad. That madness on TikTok and Instagram must stop. If you are jobless, go and look for a job,” Gbenjo said.
