US Customs To Stop Collecting Illegal Tariffs On Tuesday After Supreme Court Ruling.

The United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency will halt the collection of tariffs that the Supreme Court ruled unlawful on Tuesday, more than three days after the court’s ruling.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The US Supreme Court struck down President Donald Trump’s emergency powers tariffs in a 6-3 decision last Friday, ruling that he lacked authority to impose the duties on imports.

CBP notified shippers via its Cargo Systems Messaging Service that all tariff codes tied to Trump’s emergency powers orders would be deactivated starting Tuesday morning.

The timing coincides with Trump’s announcement of a new 15% global tariff under a different legal authority, intended to replace the Supreme Court-struck tariffs.

It remains unclear why the agency continued collecting the tariffs at US ports for several days following the ruling. CBP has also not clarified whether importers will be eligible for refunds.

The agency emphasized that stopping the collection of these specific tariffs does not affect any other duties imposed by Trump, including those enacted under national security or unfair trade practice statutes.

“CBP will provide additional guidance to the trade community through CSMS messages as appropriate,” the agency said.

Economists at the Penn Wharton Budget Model estimate that the emergency powers tariffs generated more than $133 billion for the US Treasury, averaging over $500 million daily before the Supreme Court intervened.

With the court’s ruling, the collected funds now sit in legal limbo as companies await guidance on whether they can claim refunds for tariffs deemed unlawfully imposed.

According to the source, the twins maintained a daily routine of speaking around midnight, but the conversation took a sudden turn that night when unusual activity was noticed at the General’s end.

He said the line went dead abruptly after the General paused during the call, apparently due to the unfolding situation at the base.

The twin brother reportedly made repeated attempts to reconnect, sending messages and calling continuously, but received no response throughout the night.

“He kept trying until about 4 am, but there was no answer,” the source said.

The family later confirmed the tragedy after a senior military officer contacted them around 6:30 am, informing them that the base had come under attack and that the Brigade Commander was among those killed.

The relative described the incident as devastating, noting that communication had broken down during the assault.

The late General was later buried alongside other fallen soldiers in Maiduguri, Borno State.

He wrote, “Chiemeka Chibuzor’s wedding is hereby suspended. More than a thousand applications. No more wedding pending further directive from me.”

The cleric had earlier this week publicly invited proposals for her marriage, setting conditions that included the suitor being young and in good physical and mental health, alongside promised financial support and housing benefits.

He also said the couple would enjoy lifelong support, including shared property ownership and periodic welfare checks from church members.

The development follows a similar arrangement recently conducted by the church involving a non-verbal autistic man who was married in a ceremony organised by the ministry.
