Speaking on the One On One podcast with his wife, Nkubi explained that the reality of being a little person became clear to him after finishing secondary school when he struggled to get even minor jobs.
“As a child, you hardly understand your reality, but you know you’re different from everyone else. The reality hit me after secondary school when I couldn’t secure jobs like others,” he said.
Nkubi also shared that his daughter is already experiencing similar stigma online, with trolls targeting her because of her size. He and his wife, however, say they were emotionally prepared for this possibility.
His wife added that, despite knowing the potential challenges, seeing their daughter bullied online still hurts. She also revealed that a doctor once advised her to conceive with another man to avoid having a child with dwarfism, but she refused.
