“2027: APC Says Tinubu Can Win Presidency Without Shettima”.

Published

An All Progressives Congress (APC) leader and public affairs analyst, Abimiku Dangana Solomon, has criticized comments reportedly made by the Minister of Art, Culture and Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa Musawa, regarding the choice of a vice-presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement on Monday, Solomon expressed concern over Musawa’s recent interview on Channels Television, in which she allegedly suggested that only a Northern Muslim running mate could secure President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election.

Solomon described the claim as divisive, saying it “undermines the principles of national unity” and “reduces Nigeria’s political landscape to narrow ethnic and religious calculations.”

He also condemned Musawa’s alleged assertion that Northerners possess a unique “sophistication of politics” and hold the “political key to Nigeria,” calling it “condescending, historically inaccurate, and statistically misleading.”

“Even more troubling is the suggestion that only a Hausa, Fulani, or Kanuri Northern Muslim vice-presidential candidate can guarantee Tinubu’s victory in 2027,” Solomon stated. He argued that such a stance erases the contributions of Northern Muslim minorities and Christian communities, disregarding the rich diversity that defines Northern Nigeria and the nation as a whole.

Solomon emphasized that the narrative promotes division and sidelines the aspirations of millions of non-Hausa, non-Fulani, and non-Kanuri progressive Muslims in the North, as well as Christian minorities who support a united and equitable Nigeria.

Citing the 2023 presidential election, Solomon noted that Northern voting patterns are far from uniform. He highlighted that President Tinubu lost several Hausa, Fulani, and Kanuri Muslim-majority states in the North-East and North-West, winning only Zamfara, Jigawa, and Borno, while also securing victories in non-Hausa, non-Fulani, and non-Kanuri states like Benue, Niger, Kwara, and Kogi.

“Katsina State, your home state, and Kanuri-majority Yobe State were won by the opposition PDP, despite the APC having a Northern Muslim as its vice-presidential candidate,” the statement added.
