Kwankwaso Loyalists Resign En Masse After Gov Yusuf Dumps NNPP.

Several political appointees in Kano State, loyal to Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, have begun resigning following Governor Abba Yusuf’s exit from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), describing his move as a betrayal of the political movement.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a video circulating on social media, Sunusi Sirajo, a former Special Adviser to the Governor on Political Matters, announced his resignation, citing Yusuf’s departure from the NNPP as the reason.

“After learning that the governor has left the NNPP and is expected to join the APC, I submitted my resignation letter, but it was rejected,” Sirajo said.

He added that the rejection from the Office of the Secretary to the State Government prompted him to make his resignation public.

“I am making this video to formally inform everyone that I have resigned from my position. I am grateful for the opportunity to serve and for the work we did over the past two years, but I cannot be part of betrayal. I remain loyal to our leader, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso,” he declared.

In response, Governor Yusuf’s media aide, Sanusi Bature, confirmed the appointment of Mustapha Hamza Buhari as the new Special Adviser on Political Matters, replacing Sirajo.

Other top officials who have resigned include:

  • Sumaila Abdullahi, Provost, Anti-Corruption Institute

  • Sadiq Kura Mohammad, Managing Director, Kano Zoo

  • Abdullahi Ahmad Namama, Senior Special Assistant on Intergovernmental and Foreign Affairs

Additional resignations are reportedly in progress as divisions deepen within the administration.

NNPP Flags Removed From Kano Government House

Amid the political fallout, NNPP flags have been taken down at the Kano State Government House.

In a viral video, Governor Yusuf’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, was seen personally removing the party’s flags from the premises.

A Vanguard visit to the government house confirmed that the NNPP banners had been removed from the main entrance and key buildings within the complex.

He said the initiative is part of efforts to strengthen climate resilience, tackle environmental degradation, and promote sustainable land use in the state.

Speaking at the ACReSAL mid-term review meeting in Kaduna through the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Abubakar Buba, the governor explained that the use of geospatial tools has made it possible to accurately identify affected areas for targeted intervention.

He added that the project is not only focused on land recovery but also on boosting agricultural output and improving livelihoods in affected communities.

President Tinubu has given full backing for the implementation of the ₦68.32 trillion 2026 budget after signing the Appropriation Bill passed by the National Assembly into law.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

He also approved an amendment extending the lifespan of the 2025 budget from March 31 to June 30, 2026, to ensure completion of ongoing capital projects nationwide.

Under the 2026 fiscal plan, ₦4.799 trillion is set aside for statutory transfers, ₦15.8 trillion for debt servicing, ₦15.4 trillion for recurrent spending, while ₦32.2 trillion goes to capital projects—about half of the total budget.

The focus, according to the administration, is on infrastructure development, security, and growth-driven investments aimed at improving living standards.

Speaking on the development, presidential aide Bayo Onanuga said the extension of the 2025 budget will help ensure full use of allocated funds, especially for major ongoing projects.
