PCC Receives 720 Complaints in 10 Months
Public Complaints Commission (PCC) in Abia State says it has received 720 complaints from members of the public between January and October 2025, reflecting a steady rise in citizens seeking redress for grievances across the state.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The Federal Commissioner of the PCC in Abia, Mrs. Madukwe Florence, disclosed this during an event in Umuahia. She said the complaints cut across various sectors, including government ministries, pension matters, land disputes, and employment issues.
According to her, the number represents growing public confidence in the commission’s ability to handle cases of injustice and administrative malpractice. “Our office has continued to receive petitions from aggrieved citizens who feel shortchanged or unfairly treated by government agencies or private organizations,” she said.
Madukwe explained that the commission has successfully resolved a significant number of the cases while others are still under investigation. She assured that the PCC remains committed to ensuring justice for all Nigerians, especially those who cannot afford legal representation.
“We have handled 720 complaints in just ten months, and we are working tirelessly to ensure timely resolution. The Public Complaints Commission is the voice of the voiceless, and we are determined to uphold that role,” she said.
The commissioner also urged residents to make proper use of the commission instead of resorting to self-help or illegal means to settle disputes. She said the PCC provides its services free of charge and serves as a neutral platform for mediation and conflict resolution.
The PCC, established in 1975, is mandated to investigate complaints lodged by citizens against public institutions and officials. It functions as Nigeria’s ombudsman, promoting accountability, transparency, and good governance.
Across Nigeria, several state offices of the PCC have reported similar increases in complaints this year. In Kwara State, the commission said it received over 2,500 cases in 2024, while reports from other regions indicate a growing awareness of citizens’ rights to seek justice through official channels.
Analysts say the rise in the number of complaints may indicate both improved awareness and persistent challenges in public service delivery. “It shows people are now aware they can challenge injustice,” said an Umuahia-based legal analyst. “But it also points to systemic issues that need to be addressed within government institutions.”
Despite its achievements, the PCC continues to face operational challenges, including limited manpower and funding constraints. Officials have called on the federal government to strengthen the commission through legislative and financial support.
The agency is also planning public awareness campaigns in rural areas to educate citizens about how to lodge complaints and follow up on them.
Madukwe appealed to government bodies and private institutions to cooperate fully with the PCC during investigations, stressing that accountability is key to building citizens’ trust in public systems.
“We are not here to witch-hunt anyone,” she said. “Our goal is to promote fairness and ensure that every Nigerian can get justice without fear or bias.”
As complaints continue to rise, the commission says it will continue to work with relevant agencies to resolve disputes and reduce delays in handling cases.

Benin Republic Foils Coup: Military Arrests 13 Soldiers Behind Failed Takeover.
Military and security officials in Benin Republic have apprehended approximately a dozen soldiers, including the key ringleaders, following a failed coup attempt. Sources revealed that 13 individuals were detained, most of whom are active military personnel, with one former soldier among the suspects.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
The arrests came after a group of officers, calling themselves the Military Committee for Refoundation, appeared on national television on Sunday morning, claiming to have removed President Patrice Talon and dissolved all state institutions. The officers asserted that they had seized control of the government.
The presidency, however, confirmed that President Talon is safe and that loyalist forces are restoring order. Authorities described the coup attempt as the work of “a small group” with limited reach, adding that the city and the country remain secure.
Regional bloc ECOWAS has condemned the attempted takeover, describing it as a serious and unacceptable challenge to the democratic will of the people. In a statement issued in Abuja, the Commission called for strict adherence to the country’s Constitution and praised the efforts of the government and the Republican Army in regaining control. ECOWAS warned that the plot’s leaders would be held accountable for any loss of life or property arising from their actions and reaffirmed its full support for Benin, including potential deployment of the regional standby force if necessary.

Atiku described the encounter as a pleasure, stating, “It was a pleasure catching up with former President Goodluck Jonathan yesterday evening, following his recent return from Guinea-Bissau.”
Separately, Atiku’s Senior Political Assistant, Olarenwaju, attributed the former Vice President’s actions against Jonathan in 2015 to a breach of a gentleman’s agreement. Speaking during an Space discussion titled “APC Must Go,” Olarenwaju explained that his alignment with Atiku was motivated by a broader vision for Nigeria’s progress. He said, “Most of the answers I’m going to give tonight are not just based on my deliberations with Atiku, they are based on my desire for a better Nigeria. At the end of the day, if Nigeria is better, my life is better and easier as a Nigerian. So I only find myself with Atiku; in 2015, I didn’t find myself with Atiku, I found myself on the side of Goodluck Jonathan.”
