A Kaduna State lawmaker, Sadiq Abdullahi, has officially resigned from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), citing ongoing internal disputes that he says have hampered his ability to serve his constituents effectively.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
According to reports, Abdullahi, who represents Sabon Gari Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, submitted his resignation in a letter dated October 13 to the PDP ward chairman in Hawa Ward, Sabon Gari Local Government Area.
In the letter, Abdullahi highlighted that prolonged factional conflicts within the party have made it increasingly difficult for him to carry out his legislative responsibilities.
“The persistent internal conflicts and factionalisation within the PDP, which have culminated in a prolonged party crisis, are adversely affecting my ability to effectively represent my constituency and perform my duties optimally,” the letter stated.
He added that the decision followed extensive consultations with political stakeholders and associates and emphasized that it was motivated by his commitment to serve the people of Sabon Gari Federal Constituency beyond party lines.
Abdullahi expressed gratitude to the PDP for the platform it provided him, noting that his experiences within the party were invaluable.
“I wish to sincerely thank the PDP for the privilege and opportunity to serve under its platform. The support, trust, and experiences I have gained during my time with the party have been invaluable, and I remain deeply grateful to the leadership and members at all levels,” he said.
The lawmaker also serves as Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) and is the son of Ango Abdullahi, convener of the Northern Elders Forum (NEF). Notably, he won the PDP ticket for the House of Representatives while still in captivity following his abduction during a March 2022 attack on a Kaduna-bound train, from which he was released after approximately four months.
