The commission announced the update on its handle on Wednesday, December 10, stating that applicants must now provide additional personal and contact information to improve verification processes and enhance the accuracy of business records.
According to the CAC, every Business Name Online Update submission must include the proprietor’s date of birth, registered office email, proprietor’s personal email, phone number for either the registered office or the proprietor where different, and a valid form of identification.
The agency explained that these measures are part of broader reforms designed to strengthen documentation integrity, prevent fraud, and ensure smooth communication with business owners. By requiring these additional details, the CAC expects to streamline its database, simplify compliance checks, and deliver more secure and efficient services to entrepreneurs nationwide.
The commission urged business proprietors to comply strictly with the new requirements to avoid delays in processing requests. The CAC, responsible for regulating the registration and management of companies and business names in Nigeria, has in recent years modernized its operations by moving from manual procedures to an online platform to facilitate registrations and updates.
