The blast occurred in the early hours of the morning at an industrial site located on the outskirts of the city. Emergency responders rushed to the scene to put out the fire and rescue survivors trapped in the rubble.

Authorities said the exact number of casualties has not yet been confirmed, but residents reported seeing several bodies being carried away. Dozens of workers were believed to have been inside the facility when the explosion happened.

“We heard a loud sound, and the whole building shook,” said Musa Ibrahim, a resident living nearby. “People were screaming and running. The smoke was everywhere.”

The cause of the explosion remains unclear. Officials from the Kaduna State government said investigations are underway to determine what triggered the blast.

Factory explosions are rare in Kaduna, a state known for its manufacturing sector. However, poor safety standards and aging equipment have been blamed in the past for similar industrial accidents in other parts of Nigeria.

Authorities urged families of workers to remain calm as rescue efforts continued through the day. The Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency said updates on casualties and survivors will be released after search operations are completed.

  • Criticism of Governance: Tambuwal blamed the current administration for failing to address the nation’s challenges, specifically highlighting worsening insecurity, such as recent terrorist attacks in Sokoto State and Bodinga, as evidence of poor governance.

  • Call for Decorum: Commending Kalanjeni for his “heroic” decision to resign from the APC and his elective office, Tambuwal urged ADC members to maintain a disciplined approach by avoiding name-calling, insults, or disrespectful rhetoric.

Wike-Backed Faction Nomination

The faction supported by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and led by Abdulrahman Mohammed, has reportedly selected Babangida Umaru, the party’s National Vice-Chairman (North-East), as the running mate to its presidential candidate, Sandy Onor.

  • According to a senior official, the party leadership settled on Umaru following extensive stakeholder consultations.

  • The details for this ticket have already been uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) portal.

  • While the Turaki faction currently lacks access to the INEC portal, Ememobong insisted that the “abnormalities” regarding their nomination procedure will be corrected in due time.
