The “Nigeria Celebrates” initiative was launched on Thursday as part of a landmark collaboration between the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF) and OyanaHealth Limited. This project will culminate in a comprehensive compendium spotlighting 250 exceptional Nigerians excelling in fields such as medicine, technology, business, sports, entertainment, diplomacy, and academia worldwide.
In a statement released by Segun Imohiosen, Director of Information and Public Relations at the OSGF, Secretary to the Government Senator George Akume, CON, hailed the documentary as both “historic and remarkable,” reflecting Nigeria’s enduring spirit of resilience, innovation, and patriotism. Delivered on his behalf by Permanent Secretary Mallam Mohammed Sanusi Danjuma, FCNA, Akume noted that the compendium will showcase Nigeria’s human capital potential, inspire youth, and advance national unity and inclusive development.
Alongside profiles of top achievers, the project will highlight the current administration’s accomplishments and honour 11 high-performing state governors. A variety of accompanying events—quiz competitions, innovation exhibitions, patriotic concerts, and performances of songs of hope—will enrich the celebration.
Engr. Nadungu Gagare, FNAIE, Permanent Secretary of the Political and Economic Affairs Office, praised the compendium as “a strategic tool for positive storytelling and a historical archive of Nigerian excellence,” designed to foster national pride and showcase uplifting success stories at home and abroad.
Jennifer Chinyelu Obiasor, CEO of OyanaHealth Ltd and project convener, emphasized that “Nigeria Celebrates” will pay tribute to those whose global contributions continue to elevate the country’s profile. The finished compendium is slated for unveiling during the 65th Independence Day festivities in October, serving as the definitive guide to Nigeria’s most impactful citizens across generations and disciplines.
